NEXT YEAR I WILL RETIRE...MY WIFE AND I WANT TO LIVE IN THAILAND...SHE COMES FROM A CITY CALLED PHRAE...ITS UP NORTH ABOUT 75 MILES SOUTH OF CHIANG MAI...HER HOME IS 25 MILES FROM DOWNTOWN...ITS LIKE GOING BACK IN TIME A 100 YEARS...WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS THERE ANY EXPATS LIVING UP IN THAT GENERAL AREA OR WILL I BE THE ONLY ONE?????IT WOULD BE NICE TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT LIVING UP THERE...ONE THING FOR SURE...YOU ALMOST HAVE TO LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE THEY DONT SPEAK REGULAR THAI.....THANKS...WALT
My TGF is lives in Prasat a small city in Surin province north eastern Thailand, and your right they speak Kamir. The only expats i saw up there are German expats, only one or two. The nly reason i would not live up there is that there is absolutely nothing to do.

Don't worry mate, you will not be alone, I have been living here in Phrae for about seven years.

My guess would be about 30 falangs retired here.
