Hi all,

some bg info, we got married at the amphur in BKK last month and i am currently preparing the UK spouse visa. Our wedding ceremony is in november and so the plan is to get the visa sorted in time to return to the uk together after that.

on the english language requirement, i noticed it says if your degree was taught in english that it waives the need for the english test:

Alternatively, you can give evidence that you have an academic qualification that both:

  • was taught or researched in English
  • is recognised by UK NARIC as equivalent to a bachelor’s or master’s degree or PhD

she graduated in may 16 from Assumption university after a 4 year bachelors in business administration which was taught fully in english. I cant get a NARIC yet it seems, as her graduation ceremony (when she gets her certificate) is not until November. She completed english level 4 (C1) in her 2nd year as part of the course. i expect she would be certified at C2 now.

currently it seems we will still have to do the test, just seems a waste of 6000+ bht when she is fluent. I was thinking a certified letter from her uni of the degree, the english C1 module and her transcript for grades might be sufficient. Any experience of this, or do people think i should just get the CEFR test done, i obviously don't want to jeopardise the visa

cheers
