Mr Putns too smart to start anything like WW3…he actually strikes me as a normal person who speaks sense….someone who stands up to BS when it threatens his nations interests.

But they are heading for some sort of showdown over syria…the lines are being drawn and the US as usual is hopeless at chess.

Their newest pathetic response is the picture of that poor syrian kid….with a dusty blood streaked face….using the kid as propaganda to vilify russia….like none of obama's drones ever did that? Unbelievable.

Yes, clearly Russia is being governed by a normal person who makes sense and not a kleptocrat who has journalists and other opponents of his regime murdered.

Running a country is a complex business that you won't understand….mr putin enjoys the highest approval ratings consistently….guess you will say that he threatens his people to get them to feel that way.

Pretty easy to have high approval ratings when you control the police, the FSB, and the news.

Who then?  Guaranteed it won't be the US.  It's not up to one person.

presently it's quite difficult for the U.S. to start a war as Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are retired :gigglem:

Running a country is much simpler when you use it as your personal cash register.  As for his popularity he has entirely suppressed the press, and whips up xenophobia.  Trump is definitely a Putin wannabe.

Same same but different in the US…only difference being that the media protects and talks up their candidate (or shall I say, investment)…and attacks her opponent ...and the fbi says that their favoured candidate did not break any laws even though the whole world can see that she did. :whistling::gigglem:

We don't need to, we can wait for the Europeans to give us another World War like I and II.

Putin is hardly normal.  And if he spoke sense, then why is his country in a massive economic meltdown?  One he's caused.

The US is the world's super power.  They didn't get that way by being hopeless at chess.  Though it is harder for democratic countries to do things that Putin can do.  Luckily!

Your comments about the Syrian child are disgusting.

In the last three months the rouble has appreciated by 30%. Government-bond prices have been steadily rising. On March 13th the Russian central bank cut interest rates to 14%, down from 17% in December.

That article is over a year old.  Interesting comment from it though:

Of course, the outlook for the Russian economy over the long term is bleak. The population is shrinking and the country's firms are woefully inefficient. As for Ukraine, its long-term future could be much brighter (which, perversely, may incentivise Russia to lash out further). Senior members of its government are refreshingly pro-reform and some steps have been taken to make the economy more business-friendly.

Tehran (AFP) - Iran said Monday that Russian raids on Syria from one of its airbases had ended for now, shortly after accusing Moscow of "showing off" when it revealed the bombing missions.

.....................

"Naturally, the Russians are keen to show that they are a superpower and an influential country and that they are active in security issues in the region and the world," Dehghan told Iran's Channel 2 television.

"There has been a kind of showing-off and inconsiderate attitude behind the announcement of this news," he said.

Best buddies for sure.
