Photos for Non 'O' and Extensions.

Featured Replies

Does Immigration insist on blue backgrounds in all photos for both visa and extension of stay applications?

The only immigration office I know of  that insists upon a blue background is Chiang Mai immigration.

My most recent photo used had a off white background since that was the color of the door I was standing in front of when I did a selfie.

Thanks ubonjoe. I recall someone putting their extension requirements list up recently, and they mentioned photos with blue background. That is why I asked. Off to Penang next week, and want to make sure all is prepared correctly for Single entry Non 'O' application.

In contrast one particular version of the dreaded Foreign National Information form used by immigration offices which I have seen on here insists on the inclusion of a photo taken against a white background, not smiling and smartly dressed (although how one's attire is readily apparent from a mug shot I know not). Not sure whether Chiang Mai hand out this particular (or, indeed, any) version of this form for completion at extension of stay time, but, if they did, you would clearly need to come armed with 2 sets of photos, one lot taken against a blue background for the TM7 form and the other taken against a white background for the Foreign National Information form!

on my 3rd year here and upon my 2nd (retirement) extension last March, I felt I had gotten onto the same "wavelength" as the Imm (all lady for some reason) officers at ChaengWattana. It consists of wai to them and avoid direct eye contact, then all imaginable sins on my part would be pre-forgiven. Including my own selfie photos taken and "processed" directly from my tablet.

Feeling foolish to pay for a set of 12 and only make use of 2, my homemade efforts cost me an astounding sum of 10 baht (=8 photos, even though it could have been 5bt=4 photos which all fit on a 4x6 print, but the print shop has a minimum 10 baht order requirement). To make full use of my money I got two sets 4 photos each, one with blue background and one with white. I figured if all failed all I had to do was make a run to the basement floor at the Immigration office and the print shop there would know what to do. But like I said, a simple wai goes along way, just make sure you keep your gaze at their waist level. I don't think my pretty-one officer even bothered to glance at the pics.:wai2:
