BANGKOK: -- Two women who were members of a three person syndicate that won the National Lottery in April said that their friend took all of the 30 million baht winnings.

The two ladies said they were due to receive 12 million and six million baht each as part of their respective shares in the syndicate, reported Sanook.

Rewadee Hakaew  and Wilaiporn Ratanatisoi went with a representative of a victim of crimes' group to the Crime Suppression Division yesterday.

Rewadee told the police that on march 28th she bought five pairs of tickets with the number 066720 using her own money. She signed two of them on the back as her share and gave all of them to friend Sudarat (no surname supplied) to look after.

On April 1st the numbers came up in the first prize and won a total of 30 million baht. Rewadee said that she contacted Sudarat for her 12 million baht share but was told that she never bought them.

Similarly Wilaiporn was treated in the same way when she claimed 6 million baht for the one pair share of the syndicate that she said was hers.

Today the claimants and Atchariya Ruangratanaphong of the victims of crime group are to contact the national lottery office to further investigate the matter.

A ' friend "... do you know how many new ' friends she can buy with extra 18 million baht?

beside, possession is 99% of the law, so trusting someone with lottery ticket to be honest

when the big money comes in, specially Thai people, well, you know the answer.....

I must be missing something .

She brought the tickets signed the back gave them to the third party and when she contacted her she said she never brought  them.

So is she saying the lady who signed the tickets never brought them or they were never brought in the first place?

If the tickets can't be produced then she hasn't got a hope in hell of getting one Satang.

Who needs details? Headlines are good enough.

. She signed two of them on the back as her share and gave all of them to friend Sudarat (no surname supplied) to look after.

Case closed, the two signed tickets are worthless to the "friend". Of course the friend is worthless as well, so it's all good.

Surely the tickets are surrendered to the lottery authority to claim the winnings?  So assuming that Sudarat has done so, then the lottery authority should be able to locate these winning tickets, including those signed on the back.

Why would you buy tickets and then give them to someone else?

People in offices and factories do it all the time. 10 -20 people get together and buy tickets with one person holding them.

Names of all people in the group are written on a piece of paper.

I bought lottery tickets with my Thai friend last month. It was a stack of 5 tickets and I took three of the tickets and the other 2 tickets I gave to my Thai friend. I would say it is not rocket science that if the person with the tickets makes a run once he/she won so better split the tickets before the Thai lottery draw.

BTW: The number was 982 and 932 came out.

18 million baht on the loose eh - this is one case which will be investigated enthusiastically.

not sure whether the syndicate was documented or just an arrangement of convenience among friend. in the latter case doubt there will be much that can come out of it.
