Low cost, non-religious cremation service in CM?

Featured Replies

I  was told recently that there is a company here in Chiang Mai that performs low cost, non-religious cremation services. It is supposedly located somewhere near CNX airport. I would appreciate any information about this, and believe there would be a big demand for such a service, for those of us who don't want to be involved in a religious rite.

No comedians need reply, thank you.

Suan Dork Hospital is used for many cremations I understand.

Any temple will provide cremation services.  No service required and you do not have to be Buddhist.  A donation is expected by not required.

Most of the hospitals will arrange a simple cremation for patients who pass away in their hospitals.  Some use the municipal crematorium near the Rim Ping Nim City.  McKean has their own crematorium and I think Suan Dok does also.

If you want this type of no-frills service for yourself, then you should spell it out in detail in an Advance Directive.  Otherwise your Thai family members may  feel compelled to put on a big show just to demonstrate they loved you.

You may wish to come to a seminar that Lanna Care Net is having at River Market Restaurant on Saturday, Sept 10, from 9 am - 12 noon called "Lessons Learned at the End of Life".  During this event, we'll share handouts of local resources (hospitals, doctors, nursing and care homes, CM Foreign Cemetery, Body Donation, etc) a checklist of important tasks you should do now and documents you should have on-hand and walk you thru an Advance Directive (i.e. Living Will) that is widely accepted in Chiang Mai.  By coming to this seminar and investing a little time in preparing yourself and your loved ones, you can ensure your own "Happy Ending".

Please RSVP to [email protected]

Cost is 100 baht and includes coffee, tea, fruit and the documents.

You can organise a simple cremation with the help of a low-cost funeral director http://www.simplyobseques.com/offres/simply-cremation, in fact you can personalise the service according to your wishes. You can fill the quotation request to have an idea about the pricing.

WOW

So they will do this in Chiang Mai

Seeing all this is in French i presume not English

That is more Expensive that the Australian Company that had a presentation at the Chiang Mai Expats Club last year

Yes, the municipal near Nim City fits the bill very well for no frills but does exactly what is necessary. A friend was cremated there last year at a cost of around

THB 5000 if I remember correctly.

It will do for me but not ready yet, at least I hope not!
