Hi everyone! I just got my EP from Singapore and will be moving there next month. The gf will be headed over next March and the company in Singapore is saying I need either a Marriage Cert or a Certificate of Cohabitation. Does anyone know what that is or how to get one?

I imagine to get a marriage certificate your would need to be married, as you are cohabiting she will need to apply for a Long Term Visit Pass, also you income will need to be higher than the level set for your EP.

I'm not familiar with the requirements for a Long Term Visit Pass, that would need to be obtained from the ICA, maybe have a trawl through their website ica.gov.sg/e_services_overview

I'm pretty sure that your girlfriend wouldn't be covered for healthcare, but I'm not 100%, I know from personal experience that healthcare costs are very high.

Can I get this in Thailand?

Common-law spouse Any one of the following:
  • Copy of the common-law marriage certificate.
  • A letter from the embassy acknowledging that the work pass holder (WPH) and spouse are in a common-law relationship under the laws of their country.
  • An affidavit from the WPH declaring that the WPH and spouse are in a common-law relationship under the laws of their country. The affidavit must also be notarised in that same country.

My gf is Thai....trying to get my Thai gf a dependent pass. If she was Singaporean, she wouldn't need a dependent pass to Singapore.......

Im guessing the two of you aren't married.

Very tricky business this…esp if she is the typical Isaan lass, Im afraid.

Even if you marry her now, it will be difficult…as they look for such things in particular.

They're very miserly with these long term passes now….because scores of women from vietnam, china etc have abused the system….and use their passes to work in the massage/escort business. Not saying your case would follow that pattern but they have developed systems to prevent this now.

Best bet would be to just have her visit you regularly, with a sponsor letter from you….but even that isn't guaranteed.
