How Do You Say

Context:

I love roast duck / char siu / grilled pork, but usually restaurants here will smother the meat with sauce which is too sweet for me.

thanks for any help!

Simplest possible:

mai[F] sai[L] sawd[H]

F = Falling

L = Low

H = High

"sawd" with high tone and long vowel sound is "sauce" pronounced according to Thai pron. rules.

will most likely confuse the poor dear making up the dish. It means, I don't want it too sweet...which could refer to the meat (confusing...as it isn't sweet!). Best to use mai sai sawd, or mai rad sawd, krup.
