Switzerland regrets Thai decision not to extradite Swiss national linked to 1MDB probe

BERN: -- Switzerland said it regrets a decision by Thai authorities not to extradite Swiss national Xavier Justo, a possible key witness in the global money-laundering probe linked to Malaysian state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Malaysia's 1MDB, once a pet project of Prime Minister Najib Razak who chaired its advisory board, is the subject of money-laundering investigations in at least six countries, including Switzerland, Singapore and the United States.

Justo was jailed for three years in Thailand in August 2015 after the police said he admitted to blackmail and attempting extortion of his former employer Petrosaudi, a Saudi Arabia-based oil and gas company and joint venture partner of 1MDB.

I've always thought there was something very dodgy about the way this guy was arrested and quickly prosecuted here, given the usual ridiculous delays. Now I wonder is someone wanting to keep him here for whatever reason.

As usual, we'll never know. But if he does have sensitive information, he'll be fearing for his life in a Thai prison and should want to be repatriated asap.

Could it be that Malaysia want a piece of him first??? I will not be surprise if he

be extradited back there as the Thais are more happy to please their neighbors

rather than the far away and insignificant Swiss.....

Yes, but internatioanlly/diplomatically the Swiss have a lot more "pull"!

Do you really think the Thai government cares or even thinks about International opinion?

At least until there are sanctions which make the 1% start to lose money anyway......

prime minister Najib Razak will be the one who benefits from this refusal to extradite!! So no withess in the moneylaundering investigations  in which p[ossible the prime minister is involved.

So think of influences from that direction !

Perhaps not as insignificant as you think, with all the elite Swiss account holders here.

This is all about Malaysia and covering Najib's ass.

Yes, the seven hundred + million dollars that winged it's way into Najib's personal account that definitely wasn't 1MDB funds. The 'gift' from an unknown Saudi, prompted by Malaysia's assistance fighting ISIS despite the fact they haven't.

Interesting insight into the behind the scenes action concerning Justo's situation.

http://www.sarawakreport.org/2016/09/confirmed-najib-demanded-that-thailand-should-not-release-justo/

Najib, the little toad, is in it up to his ears and he is desperately buying time before he calls a new election sometime early next year. As before, he will use some of his ill gotten gains to pay off opposition MP's to change allegiances (Sarawak in particular) as well as redraw electoral boundaries to reduce the size of electorates in Bumi dominated areas. Then he can raise the drawbridge for a few more years and fend off any foreign legal attacks.

I recall being in KL during May last year and a taxi driver was filling me in with the lowdown on 1MDB - this was before Justo was arrested in Samui. So the shenanigans of Najib was common knowledge even at that time. Yet he continues to get away with it. Hopefully for not too much longer.
