Australian visa for Thai wifes son

Featured Replies

I have read through many threads on here relating to Australian Visa applications but cant find one that addresses my question so here go's.

I am a UK citizen so can obtain an E visa

My Thai Wife of 15 years is also now a UK citizen and holds a UK passport so she can obtain an E visa

My Wife's son (Bill for ease of following) who is 16 years old is a Thai citizen and holds a Thai passport.

My son by my ex-wife (Ben for ease of following) Lives/works in Australia and has permanent residency.

We are hoping to visit Australia for a couple of weeks over the new year and after studying the AU consulate site I am confused as to whether I should apply for a Sponsored Family Visitor visa (subclass 679 for Bill or a basic tourist visa. I can of course produce all the relevant docs to prove that Bill and Ben are step-brothers through marriage  but would the Au consulate recognise this relationship as family? I want to be sure rather than take this route and possibly have the application rejected

Thanks

Hi

I am sorry to say that 679 has been repealed which means that they are not accepting anymore applications for this visa. Perhaps a visitor (visa class 600) or tourist (visa class 676) would suit your purposes?
