BANGKOK: -- THE Constitutional Court yesterday ruled that the revised draft charter made by the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) was against the will of the August 7 referendum.

An additional question in the referendum had asked voters to accept that the appointed Senate should join with the House of Representatives in selecting a candidate for prime minister during the five-year transitional period.

The court wanted the charter to make clear that the appointed senators should be able to join the House of Representatives in waiving a list of PM candidates drawn up by political parties if they could not vote for any candidate in the normal process.

They are the military and can do as they please and if you don't like it then pack your tooth brush.  The referendum was a sham conducted in complete secrecy.  No one outside the junta knows any official results, independent observers were banned and the people were fed what the junta wanted to feed them.  There is absolutely no transparency in anything they do.

This is nothing more than carefully orchestrated delaying tactics by the NCPO and its appointees!

Despite Prayut asserting that he will stick to his 6-4-6-4 Roadmap (http://news.thaivisa.com/thailand/pm-says-will-stand-by-6-4-6-4-formula-to-general-elections/120194/), this timetable for the elections is now stalled - and, it can not even restart until the "people's" Constitution has been accepted by the NLA and the Constitutional Court.

So, while Prayut will continue to assure Thais that everything is on track (for elections), expect to see the CC putting up many more obstacles as the CDC continues its appointed task of completing the first four Organic Bills in accordance with Section 267.

Meanwhile, Prayut can sit back, wiggle his fingers, and smirkingly consider how "excellent" things are (not) progressing!
