Liquorice Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 (edited) I've had a hernia in the lower intestines/groin area for quite some time now, but as it never bothers me, I've ignored it. However, I know I should really get it seen to. I intend to use my local government hospital, but I'm not sure what to expect, what kind of procedures they use and the approximate cost. Anyone recently had experience with a hernia operation. Edited October 4, 2016 by Faz
lopburi3 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Well I went through a 3 day colon cleaning process which suspect you may also have to have several months ago in preparation for radical cystectomy (which was canceled with me on OR because of no ICU availability) - this was to be about 2 weeks on hospital and fixed price was 80k . Not exactly fun in a 19 bed ward eating low/no/fluid and taking some of the most foul tasting double shots available outside of a pub. Visiting hours were limited to afternoon/evening. If you ever had a hangnail expect to have to obtain medical clearance to a specialist hang nail doctor (must have seen 5 different doctors) and had to visit optical doctors using wheel chair in another building after having bowel cleaning medicine (not pleasant) - even more so when staff tried to prevent my use of toilets due to cleaning time - was made very clear to them they would be cleaning more than toilets. Sorry - you should not have any problems - just expect delay and a lot of waiting. Be sure someone speaks Thai - even speaking Thai it can be difficult to follow some instructions.

Anyone recently had experience with a hernia operation. I had one done 8-9 years ago in a rural town hospital. Price then was 8,000 Baht which included 2 nights private room. Put your worries behind you and get it done. I reckon you'll pay 10-12,000 now. Edited October 4, 2016 by sinbin

You wasted your money lopburi3. The local seafood barbeque restaurant here can clean your colon and bowels overnight for 250 baht.
