Popular Post jackcorbett Posted October 21, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 21, 2016 Last week the salesman at Watchara Marine here in Pattaya informed me that sometime "next year" Yamaha will be bringing the Xmax 250 and possibly 400 models to Thailand. This was while I was checking up on some slight modifications this dealership was performing on my SR400. He then had me drive the Yamaha Nmax 155 around in the parking lot (I was impressed, especially with the braking). I came close to selling my Yamaha Nouvo Elegance or trading it in for the Nmax. Yesterday I went back to Watchara Marine to pick up my SR400, but it was not quite ready so I went from the main showroom area to the smaller showroom and service area where Watchara Marine sells and services its "smaller bikes". I informed the salesman that I had brought my green book, passport, etc to Watchara Marine to see about trading it in for the Nmax but I had not seen him there. The salesman then told me that Yamaha was going to introduce the Yamaha XMax 300 to Thailand and he said that this version of the Xmax was getting a brand new engine (the 300 instead of a 250 or 400. As for my trading in my Yamaha Elegance in for the Nmax he suggested to me, "Come back in 2 weeks. We are having a special promotion". Here's the Yamaha for Thailand XMax Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/YamahaXMAXThailand/ And here's my take on Watchara Marine. I've bought four motorcycles from Watchara Marine. Generally for a Nouvo type of bike Watchara is 1000 baht cheaper than Mityan. It's pretty far from Naklua being on Thresspassit Road and Sukamvit across Sukamvit from the Outlet Mall. They sell Ktm here and Triumph (although the new dealership arrangement with triumph is not finalized yet. They carry the full line of bigger Yamahas here. For example in the large showroom they have 2 Yamaha R-1's. Which have 200 horsepower. They carry Yamaha outboard motors and Wave runners, Polaris 4 wheelers, etc. I figure to be able to service all this high powered machinery Watchara must have some pretty proficient mechanics. (Keep in mind there are two service areas, the first one for smaller bikes), the second one for the larger bikes behind the large showroom). Now a lot of the people at Watchara do not speak English, but some of them so. In general I find that this dealership does a better job at making its customers feel at home than the main MItyan dealer and Big Bike. But I suppose all that is dependent on luck, at whichever dealer you are visiting. But certainly this dealership deserves a good look. 5
pbas400 Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I think price can be around 240 K THB Tmax is a better choice :)
MrJ Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 te T max 530cc is 460k about double the price and a different league - would be interested in the XMax 300 cc as well - please keep us updated if you got any news Thanks 1
MrJ Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 http://www.mcnews.com.au/2017-yamaha-x-max-300/ looks very promising - will it be assembled in Thailand with an affordable price or imported? I am starting saving :-)
HeyNow Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I too saw the news about the new X-Max on my Facebook feed. From what I've read, it's built in Indonesia. Good to hear from at least one source that it may make its way to Thailand. By the numbers, it looks to outclass its competitors (e.g. the Forza, Burgman 200 and Sym GTS300i ) - more HP, more torque, less weight, more fuel capacity, bigger tires and brakes. Personally, the styling suits me better than the Forza. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yada yada. If anything, the X-Max tries to be a little too sporty/aggresive whereas the Forza is way too bland and bloated. The black-gray and black-white color schemes look pretty sharp, but the brown-black is fugly! A big question mark is the price tag. If it's really 240,000 that'll definitely put a damper on my enthusiasm and I doubt many Thais will go for it either. If Yamaha can keep it around 160-190K, similar to the Forza, then they may get more attention. Another question mark is whether Honda will revamp the Forza in 2017 or 2018. If Honda can sharpen up the styling and shuck some of the weight while keeping it at the same price point, I just might go for that instead. With the NMax and now the XMax, it seems that Yamaha is working hard to loosen Honda's stranglehold in the premium and superscoot markets. Honda's been quiet so far, but I bet they'll release some updated products in the next year or two to fend off Yamaha's assault.

HeyNow Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Saw a post on a Thai website today which puts the price at 210,000 baht with a debut on 17-March-2017: http://car250.com/yamaha-xmax-300-เปิดตัว-17-มีนาคม-2017-ราคา-21000-บ.html But from my reading of the article, it's only talking about a European release date and the price is a direct conversion from the price of 5,499 Euros mentioned in another article. So it's still unclear whether or not this will be released in Thailand, and if so, at what price. If they try to sell it at 210,000 baht here, I don't think there will be many takers.
pbas400 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Global market. . Not only Europe www.autocarpro.in/news-international/yamaha-reveals-2017-xmax300-lightweight-scooter-europe-22233
eisfeld Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Are they imports or why are the prices of the bigger Yamaha scooters way too high? You can buy a CB500F for that kind of money. Same like the T Max for 470k THB. What justifies these prices?
pbas400 Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 The Tmax is made in Japan, price is same Europe +/- 500 euros The Xmax 300 will be made in Indonesia

I thought at first that the country of manufacture (Indonesia) on this bike might have to do with the higher price. But then I remembered that the NMax is made in Indonesia too, and Yamaha has priced it very competitively against the PCX. So I suspect that the Thai authors of the articles above are just taking the European price of 5,499 euros, converting it directly into 210,000 baht and putting it up there as a ballpark figure for the time being. We'll have to wait to find out what the actual price is, but I doubt Yamaha would be so foolish as to think that the Xmax could compete against the Forza at that price. Many of the comments by Thais on Facebook are saying that it's a nice bike but "pheng maak!" The Forza at around 160,000 is already a hard sell to most people here.
guzzi850m2 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Yes the price has to be in Forza territory in order to compete (for Thai buyers) but many expats don't mind paying a bit more if its looks better/better riding. See a lot of Nmax around now, they looks very nice and I am considering getting one when I replace my PCX from 2012 but the pcx still rides fine, so I keep it for now. I congratulate Honda with the Forza, one of the most ugly scooters ever made, it looks like a ship from behind, LOL. 1

HeyNow Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Saw this on FB today: https://web.facebook.com/YamahaXMAXThailand/posts/1825566707698992 Originally, I'd been seeing Thai websites mentioning prices in the range of 210,000 baht. Way too expensive. But now it looks like the price may be 165,000 give or take. Another poster posted something similar, but I can't find the link anymore. That's an attractive price for a maxi scoot that's lighter and more powerful than the Forza. Not to mention a whole lot better looking, at least in my eyes.
HeyNow Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Ah, here it is. A very similar page, but a different post and a slightly different MSRP at 160,000. https://web.facebook.com/xmax300thai/posts/1845025002407049
sebastion Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Yeah this has nice specs. 28hp it will surely be fast. Looks great. Sent from my EVA-L19 using Tapatalk
Happy Grumpy Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 It certainly makes the Forza look dated.
MrJ Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 any update regarding release date and prices in Thailand?

marino28 Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 any news regarding the xmax 300 ? was not at the motorshow. Are still some chance that he will arrive in thailand?
idman Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 That March date for release was an outright joke. I went to three Yamaha dealers in Chiang Mai in the past two weeks and got the same answer. No XMax 300 before December. Given the Thai propensity for ouright lying to your face I doubt if this scooter will be available until early 2018. A bloody shame as I had planned on getting my hands on one instead of buying the Forza. Now with Honda planning on some changes to the Forza to compete with the XMax and introducing it to the Thai market in December I am going to wait and hopefully do a side by side in early 2018. Unless the Forza trims a lot of weight, ups the power and matches or exceeds the XMax in other areas the choice should be an easy one.Sent from my SM-T805 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
luwahn Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 With updated(?) version of the Forza 300 to be released this Dec, and the likely hood the Yamaha Xmax 300 will be for sale at the beginning of next year, it will be we the consumer who will win out because both companies should try to release their best 'Thai' version in order to win the most market share ...... Will Honda rise to meet Yamaha's cool Xmax features?

Will Honda rise to meet Yamaha's cool Xmax features? Very likely, they got busy copying the Fino when they saw how good it sold, Scoppy i design is pretty much "borrowed" from Fino. Looks like Yamaha currently have the best designers, the Arox looks very cool and their small sports-bike range sells like hot cakes here in LOS. Thankfully the Thais are not so brand royal anymore but buy the best looking scooters/bikes they can afford, especially the young Thais wants something that looks cool and not a tired looking Honda Wave/Dream. Waaaaaake up Honda, stop dreaming, ha-ha. 2
luwahn Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 It's going to be real interesting to see what build strategy Honda chooses for its Forza 300 (350?) upgrade. IMHO, they could also upgrade the handle bar and dash to a more luxurious look, match the Xmax 15" wheel and offer an adjustable windscreen for starters.
Issanman Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Recent story about new X-Max 250 from Indonesia>>> LINK 1
idman Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 As a final thought, I hope that my memory is not so faulty but I seem to recall that in Bangkok every late November there is another Auto Show. It would be nice to go there and actually have the opportunity to check out these two scooters, sit on them, compare all the specs and maybe swing a deal if incentives are offered by buying at that time.Sent from my SM-T805 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
VocalNeal Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Already in Indonesia. About 143,000 B , there. http://www.yamaha-motor.co.id/product/xmax
MrJ Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 is it 250 or 292cc as in Europe with 29hp not 24? hope the later .......
luwahn Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Have not seen any info about which Yamaha engine will be in the new Xmax when it comes to LOS .... Does anyone know the specs of the new Forza model update?
