Holy Cow!- Cubbies!

yeah.  i was born in 1957 in the northeast.  I suffered through the 1967, then 1975, then puke the 1986 red sox.  Then they not only won the world series, but did it in that most improbably of ways, coming back from 0-3 to beat the Yankees of all teams!  Then they won two more.  So they broke the curse of the Bambino.  Heck, I was playing little league in 69 when the Mets won.  They were the ultimate joke and laughing stock and long shot.

Go Cubbies.  Although I do like Cleveland.  It looks like the two best teams most of the year did what they had to do.  Should be a good series

Born the same year in the Windy City, one of the worst insults you could lay on my buddies was to call any of us a Mets fan.  Oooh, the burn...

Haha.  Yeah.  I understand. I didn't remember all the details of 69 so I looked it up.  The ill-fated season saw the Cubs in first place for 155 days, until mid-September when they lost 17 out of 25 games.

To be honest, I haven't followed baseball in decades.  But two of my brothers went to college on baseball scholarships and my Dad was a Sox fan turned Cubs fan when the neighborhood around Comiskey park got too dodgy.  So dinner conversation almost always included a discussion of how the Cubs would always choke every year.  Starting out the year on a winning streak was generally viewed as a cruel, cruel tease.

I can guaranty that my 3 brothers are right now trying to buy tickets and making travel plans.  And reminiscing about Dad, who didn't live to see it.
