if thats the case, australia must have a shortage corn flake boxes, cfmeu must give them out with membership then as there are that many cranes toppling or killing people, but its always managment that is blamed

It looks more like a fallen pile driver.  There are two standing upright in the background.  The project is still in the beginning foundation construction stages.  Still resulting in human rottie if your caught under it.

It looks more like a fallen pile driver. "

At last, someone who knows the difference between a pile driver and a crane. A construction crane would have been much taller and caused more damage.

I doubt the project located between the BTS station and a row of shophouses would be permitted to use driven piles. More likely installing bored piles...

so a crane has never been set up to drive piles, and i suppose a digger has never been used as a crane, could even be driving wicks instead of piles, they can still all lay down

A new mall. Like we need a new one. :post-4641-1156693976:

On the contrary, us "midtown" residents are delighted that a boutique mall is going to open on our doorstep, rather than another condo!

Your doubts are correct. However, I think we were trying to diferentiate between a crane and a piling machine. These would indeed have been bored or drilled shaft piles.

Irrelevant. The machine here was being used in the installation of piles. Not a crane and not an excavator.

Workers remove a fallen crane from across the sidewalk at BTS Phra Khanong on Sukhumvit Road on Sunday in Bangkok.

BANGKOK — Police said Monday no one will face criminal charges over a giant crane which crashed down onto the footpath and exit No. 4 of BTS Phra Khanong.

Because no one was hurt in the incident, the matter will be settled privately between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, or BMA, and the firm that managed the construction site, Piyawit Thongdech said, an officer at Klong Tan Police Station.

Always assuming you survive to use it.

Only by the grace of God - or for many Thais, karma. This is the third incident involving the collapse of a crane (or whatever) in, what, a little over a year? And when - not if - these incompetent morons do cause injury, or death, what happens then? Derisory compensation offered for something that should have been prevented by application of common sense and the law, and also settled privately?

The law in LoS is truly a ass, administered by asses.

This is no private matter.

BMA is a public organization and should always conduct its business in a fully transparent manner to assure the public that there is no appearance of corruption or malfeasance and th application of law is fully compliant.Any resolution BMA reaches with the company should be available to the public on demand for review.

It is always management to blame ultimately. They take the high rewards, they must accept the responsibility. They hire the workers, they train them, they oversee them. The buck (Both versions) stops there
