BANGKOK: -- A 34 year old man was killed after it was claimed that a patrol from the Suthisarn police station in Bangkok raided a game of Hi-Lo early this morning.

The man - named only as Don, 34 - was found with multiple wounds early Thursday morning after he had been drinking and playing the gambling game with several others in a house in the area, reports Sanook.

According to those at the scene several men arrived claiming they were a Suthisarn police patrol. Don fled but fell over and hit his head. He was then set upon and stamped on.

Suthisarn police arrived and medics were unable to revive the man despite CPR. He was pronounced dead at the scene in Soi Run Reuang.

Police doubts that fellow officers were involved but a full investigation is underway. Witnesses are being further interviewed and an autopsy is taking place.

Sounds like gamblers who wouldn't gamble with the Law...

Innocent that I am, I have no idea what "hi-lo" game happens to be, but does sound like this fellow was first high, then laid low..

I'm sure nobody here will doubt that, too.

It's a game with 3 dice and they are covered in a container and then you bet on what might come up. There are 100's of different bets. There is a large sheet of plastic where you place your bets on the table. The dice are not all normal they are for the game. One has a red dot on it for example. Was popular on Silom 3 and more years ago. Even police played sometimes.  It's fun and you can learn a lot of bad Thai as well.

Spouting idiocy again, some geezers having a drink and playing a game does not make a 'gambling den' that should be raided.

What is next arresting people for playing bridge or something..... oh wait

Well that is what they were doing, read the further reports on the matter. You are the master of hyperbole...

If you're sending money every month, it's likely that you're funding it.

Not sure wether there is another thread about it already, but another news source in English clearly states witness testimony that he first started punching an officer and was then beaten and kicked unconscious.

Reanimation failed. Involved officers left the scene.

HiLo: a three dice game.

Lo: sum below 11, Hi: sum above 11.

HiLo: sum is 11.

And you can bet on tons of combinations on a special game board.

All have their distinct winning quota.

It is as such not forbidden (you can buy dices and board), but of course playing for (huge) money IS forbidden.

A very popular betting game besides misc card games.

In our village it is played with police knowing and being bribed blind eye before.
