I made an appointment to see an orthopedic at Bumrungrad to investigate what I thought was Tennis Elbow.

I was seen by Dr. Winyou Ratanachai  who diagnosed a partially torn distal bicep brachii tendon after x-ray and MRI. This is a bicep tendon that connects to the bone at the elbow. I was told it was possible to go without surgery, but that tendons don't heal themselves, and that surgery would be preferable before it detached completely. He said he can do it. Arm will remain in cast for 5 weeks. Not cheap though. I will be paying myself.

But I now find myself wanting to find the best possible surgeon to carry out this procedure. Looking through forums here on TV, I see that Dr Mason Porramatikul comes highly recommended for shoulders, and also does meniscus and ACL's, but see nothing about elbows.

Can anyone recommend a surgeon for such a procedure? Any recommendations for Dr. Winyou?

Thanks.

Dr. Winyou looks well qualified, and I have seen positive feedback on him from other TV members.

I also expect Dr. Mason could handle this even though the tear is distal rather than proximal. (this tendon runs from the shoulder to the elbow).

I can't find out if Dr. Winyou operates at any other hospitals other than B'grad, but I see that Dr. Mason also works at Phyathai 1.

Is this hospital any good? Wondering if it might be a little cheaper than B'grad's quote of 250 -280 just for the op. not including any medicines, and could hopefully still use Dr. Mason.

Asa hospital, it is fine, and fi Dr. Mason is the surgeon you should be fine. He won't perform a procedure in a hospital that he doesn't think is adequately equipped.

Phyathai used to be much less expensive than Bumrungrad but of late I have been hearing some odd (and very high) quotes reported ...especially by people that went through their International Services dept.

Suggest you go see Dr. Mason there, get his assessment and, assuming he also advises surgery, get a quote. That way you will have had a second opinion plus priced the procedure at two different hospitals.
