Duterte says he and Trump are alike as they both curse

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said Wednesday night he might stop quarreling with the United States now that Donald Trump has been elected the president and both of them come become chums because “we both curse even on trivial matters; we are alike”, The Manila Times Online reported on Friday.

Duterte’s friendly attitude toward Donald Trump contrasted with his combative stance toward outgoing US President Barak Obama, who had been critical of the Philppine government’s campaign against drug traffickers.

The president on Wednesday admitted he was advised to tone down his anti-US rehetoric following the shocking election victory of Donald Trump.

“I don’t want an enemy, but I cannot also – because, they said, the election is over and Trump has won, why don’t we just shut up,” he said in Filipino.

In a recent television interview, Duterte said Hilary Clinton would make a good president while Trump was a good candidate.

"We are alike".  Any response Mr. Trump?  I didn't think so.  This is when silence is agreement.

I'm like both of them.  A male! LOL

Silence is agreement? That might be a bit of a stretch. Chances are no one even noticed (or could care less about) this earth shattering pronouncement.

I'm sure that others have commented on the likeness before.

They both have very enthusiastic supporters (and detractors).

Neither of them pay attention to the normal rules (or laws).

Both of them say whatever is passing through their minds at that moment.

They are both ready to trash their allies and embrace their enemies.

They are both going to make their countries very interesting places to live.

turns out the assault rifles he was going to buy were a good deal and trump is pro guns.

With Trump at the helm this deal may still be alive. It gives Dutuerte some wiggle room to make up for his? What did Ralph Kramden say about his big oral cavity? He says they both curse maybe he means cursed.

It's actually an evidentiary principle in law called admission by silence.  Admission by Silence  I can't argue that no one cares what Duterte says anymore, but it's another crackpot, like David Duke, whom Trump needs to denounce.  He has no problem attacking others, no matter how far-fetched, such as his birther belief.

Same same, but different.

"Colorful character" was advised to check it because unlike Obama, if he called Trump "son of a whore". Trump may pull all funding and retract the military pact leaving the PI screwed. - China may be a trading partner, but one leaving the PI with a huge deficit. Only US & Japan leave them with surplus.

Last I checked Donald Trump wasn't a homocidle maniac cold blooded killer being accused of mass murder. e.g. Feeding people to crocodiles & personally shooting NBI agents with uzi's.

The President elect is a busy man right now and he will have little time for a complete thug like Duerte. "Silence is not agreement" Phillipine may be a strategic value for USA but not essential.

Wow! You've convinced me that you have been living in a vacuum.  Are you just another of the whining progressive socialists that can't come to grips with our election system and results.  If you don't like the system do something productive about it and write your representatives.  That is if you are even an American.  If not...be silent.

Interesting that supporters of authoritarian nut cases like to tell other people to shut up.

Do they put them on ignore lists too?  Isn't that the nth degree of telling someone to shut up?

Well Boris seems like an inspired choice at the moment - the female hegemony dream has died, now we get the male version - Putin, Duterte, Trump, Boris, et al.

The world press seems to be filling us up with egocentric baboons who will do anything for attention:  this guy, the one that runs North Korea, the guy who runs Russia, the Wikileaks guy.  Oh yeah, and that American guy with the dopey hairdo.

And they hate it when you don't call them by name.

Fact is that they were all elected, so a majority of the citizens in their respective countries must support them.

If an idiot gets elected, he will still be an idiot!

FYI I don´t live in any of those countries, but the politics here are almost as bad.

Great, Newsweek carries the crazy Wal-Mart story.  It morphs, too.  Last I heard the stores were to be FEMA concentration camps and the US would be taken over by the UN.

Donald doesn't understand the National Enquirer isn't a legit newspaper.
