Prominent Bangkok cop takes over Chonburi Provincial Police

CHONBURI:--The former police commander who oversaw Bangkok’s main nightlife area and shook up officer ranks following last year’s Erawan Shrine bombing has been tapped to head the Chonburi Provincial Police.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Somprasong Yentuam, most recently the chief of Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 5 – which covers Bangkok’s go-go bars and discos of lower Sukhumvit Road – now takes jurisdiction over free-wheeling Pattaya.

Wow these jobs seem to be a revolving door of candidates for higher office. How many is that in the last 2 years (since the coup)?

they are very obviously clamping down in Pattaya and it is good to see, perhaps the previous police commander didn't want to get with the program or was part of the problem

noticed there is a lot more police stops on the roads in pattaya now. mostly concentrating on westerner motorbike riders. maybe i notice it more as i am now riding a motorbike as i sold my pickup. i am sure it used to just be more  toward the end of the month when they needed to collect money to pay the salaries. defiantly more breath tests going on which are a big money maker.

I don't frequent Soi 6, but what will all those employed there do for a living after it has been closed ? Why does Soi 6 bother you? If you don't like it, stay away.

Don't like alcohol? Well, then don't drink it.

Don't like football ? Well, then don't watch it.

Don't like Isaan Music? Well, then don't listen to it.

It is as simple as that
