BANGKOK: -- Visitors can expect tight security for what promises to be the biggest Loy Krathong party in the capital on the Chao Praya riverside at Asiatique.

Top brass cops  inspected the area yesterday and held meetings to discuss security for the expected 30,000 to 50,000 crowds coming to float Kathongs at the traditional full moon festival, reports Daily News.

Chalermkiat Sriworakhan ordered all bags of participants and all visitors' ID to be checked. Following a meeting at Wat Prayakrai police station he inspected Asiatique The Riverside.

He personally went to ensure that the CCTV was in working order and urged security guards on duty to report anything suspicious to the police immediately.

It is understood that there are 180 cameras in operation at the site and that bag searches will take place at five separate locations.

Parking will be available for up to 1,400 cars.

How about the security at the 3rd biggest party in the capital, or at a quite big party somewhere on the Maeklong?

It's very hot tonight and no wind at all, the kratongs don't even move in the water.

Only a few for sale in PKK and no lanterns allowed... all in all a non event here!
