Buying appliances in Bangkok

Recommended Posts

HI,

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this question, please move to the appropriate forum, thanks

Frustrated trying to find kitchen appliances in Bangkok, happy to hear of  good stores to buy cooking range (oven and cook top , electric).

I used LG products in the US but was told they are not durable.

Please comments on your experience and product name as well. Thanks

HomePro and Boonthavorn should be your first ports of call.

You won't find a massive range of ovens but all the main brands of cooktops should be represented.

Hadn't thought of Ikea BC.

Forgot to include brands, we have a Smeg gas cooktop which seems to be doing well but it wasn't cheap (Wifey doesn't do cheap). They also do electric and dual-fuel models. Came from HomePro Rangsit.

We don't have an oven.

As said ovens are not required for Thai cooking so not much selection (and costly) so if only to be used occasionally or for cakes and such a large table top electric oven can fit the bill and not be expensive.  If you do not require electric due home restrictions gas is a much better option for cooking local food.  But if you need electric there are many available from stand alone to built-in types.  Crossy provided the two main providers.  Boonthavorn have found is a contractors favorite but prices will often be on high side (expect contractors get a discount).  HomePro varies but often have good price and sale items in my recent experience (but there on-line experience has become a nightmare with most items listed as out of stock - so would recommend store visits).

I have a 42 litre table top fan assisted oven that I bought in Makro this year for just over 4,000 baht.

I have cooked a leg of lamb, roast pork in it but I use it a large amount for baking bread and rolls. Definitely worth a look.

Robinson is a mid range department store operation of Central for the last 20 years.  It is not primarily a white goods seller but perhaps in some locations could be a viable option.

Even Lazada could be an option (best you know model or brand for search).

Any specific appliances in mind? I believe all Centrals and The Malls have a range of kitchen appliances that should fit most needs.

I got most of my stuff from the Central close to me, simply because I'm lazy to travel all around to source for a slightly better bargain. Got an excellent Panasonic water boiler, a simple Tefal toaster, and a Russell Hobbs panini press at reasonable prices.
