Just an hour ago I went to Kasikorn Bank to withdraw money and they asked to copy my passport.
It's a standard practice in most places so I didn't bat an eye, but later when they gave me a photocopy to sign I saw there was also the front side of my card on it which is to say the least worrying.

It was my first time withdrawing money with this bank, is it a standard practice of Kasikorn?

Have no idea but also have no idea why a photo of the front of a card would be a concern.

Some places allow you to make purchases without the CVV code, and while those are easy to chargeback, it is a hassle, and a risk. Besides CVV is a three digit code, an employee with access to dozens copies should have a high enough chance of buying a motorbike.

Then again you're probably right, I shouldn't have a reason to worry, but better safe than sorry.

To increase safety: scratch off the CVV (after memorizing/storing elsewhere of course) for cards that you carry around.
