I'm sorry for posting yet again, but solutions are hard to find!

I've contacted the embassy and they said to print a document from their website and the appointment booking is done online right?

The website is absolute <deleted> and I can't see a trace of any of those things. I need to have some confirmed proof that I am a citizen and have an address in the UK to open a bank account.

Any further help will be appreciated.

It seems you are trying to open a bank account here. This from embassy website.

How can the British  Embassy when providing a service for British Nationals only, accept national identity cards when the UK doesn't issue national identity cards?

Because they are the British Embassy and they have a peculiar logic of their own.

I think this is an artifact from a period when you could optionally get a UK identity card. The attempt to introduce them foundered long ago, and they are no longer considered proper proof of identity. However, no one has bothered editing the wording from those days.

The national identity card is not referring to UK citizens wanting notary services. The embassy does provide certain notary services for Thai's also.
