Learning Mandarin are we?

As I remember it America rescued Australia from the Japs, not the other way round.

Australia is in Asia the USA is not....There was a chance that a conflict in south east asia could have been avoided if if the Americans had stayed out of it, history shows that American meddling with the Dutch East Indies ( Indonesia) over who to NOT sell oil to led to the Japanese expecting at some point that the US would enter the war and clearly the US at that point in time were very much un willing to do so, yet were actively engaging in destabilising the area....sound familar? Hence the attack that drew the US into the war in the Pacific....

Myself and all Australians welcome the liberation by the Americans from the Pacific war that the US helped to inflame......

trump's China policy.

trump's Asia policy.

trump's foreign policy in general.

A HOT MESS.

Get used to it. The American people voted for this total fool. (Well, sort of, considering he lost the popular vote badly.)

God help us.

Trump flunks his first foreign policy test

Devising a wise strategy for challenging China’s ascendancy in Asia is arguably the top foreign policy task for a new president. But if Trump planned to take a tougher stance, this was a haphazard way to do it. The president-elect instead stumbled into a pre-inaugural foreign flap, insulting Beijing and causing it to lose face, without having a clear, well-articulated plan for what he seeks to accomplish.

Worse, Trump’s fulminations about China come just as his plan to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership is undermining the United States’ standing with allies in Asia. Trump, in effect, is ceding economic ground to China at the very moment he claims to be taking a harder line. Is this a cool, calculating strategy from the dealmaker? It looks to me more like a hot mess.

Well, what can I say. Trump has put the TPP thing into the bin, and there's a reason for that. That TPP thing, it would have reduced the amount of cheap Chinese goods entering into America, but cheap goods from the low-wage TPP countries would simply replace the Chinese stuff.
Trump wants to reduce the amount of cheap imported goods enterng America.  Whether the stuff is from China, or Vietnam, or whatever, Trump wants to reduce it.

Now, the report claims that throwing away the TPP undermines America's standing with allies in Asia. Well, because Trump has talked with Taiwan's leader, surely, Trump has actually strengthened America's link with Taiwan ?  And indeed, a few people have already said that Washington is probably about to sell a large amount of military hardware to Taiwan. Obama was trying to do a 'big bang' deal, involving a seriously large amount of weapons being exported to Taiwan. Well, Trump will now do it.

As for how America is ceding economic ground to China, how about we see it in a different way.  Trump is about to hit China hard by putting some serious taxes on the Chinese goods entering America. China is not laughing. Yes, America is allowing China to do more and more trade with the Far East nations, but does America really want to be the biggest trading partner of those Far East countries ?  It goes back to, does America really want to import a vast amount of cheap goods from the Far East ?

I mean, Americans are Europeans, they're not really a bunch of Chinese or Asians, or Orientals. Or shall I say, America is far closer to Europe than it is to Asia. Why not look towards Europe, rather than the Far East ? Why not move closer to Europe, rather than closer to the Far East ?

Thought he (she?) posted that comment here by mistake. Likely meant for Stormfront forum. :shock1::tongue:

By accident? Huh? One of Trump's major points during his campaign was going up against China and quit losing to them. What person would think that after such emphasis, it's an "accident"????

This is yet another perfect example of media dishonesty.
