Does extending a multiple entry non O after the first 90 days invalidate the portion remaining?

I have a multiple non O visa expiring at end of May in 2017. After the end of the first 90 days I chose to extend the visa, rather than leave and return. That extension expires at the end of September 2017.

My circumstances have since changed and I am returning home. I want to travel to Europe next year, stopping off in Thailand in April for a couple of months.

 

My question: as my extension expires if I don't get a re entry before leaving, is my non O visa still valid? If so, that would allow me to enter Thailand in April without needing to get an extension or a tourist visa.

I'm assuming I get 90 days as long as I enter before the visa expires.
