rkidlad Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Okay, what's the hotline number? If we see or hear about corruption, and I see it a lot, I simply report it, right? Oh, no? So how will it be reduced then? Pure and utter hyperbole as usual.

digibum Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Five year goal . . . unless someone is willing to make a small donation for an extension. :-)
spidermike007 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 He has absolutely no interest in eliminating corruption. None. He talks, and talks, and talks. And rarely does he get anything done. His job is to ensure that the elite remain in their current positions of power, and that the rich stay rich, and the poor stay poor and badly educated. That is his job. How does eliminating corruption fit into that job description?
IMA_FARANG Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I believe I heard the same thing 30 years ago when I first came to Thailand.

Emster23 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Could end graft in less than a month IF was serious. Does present real possibility of counter coup however.
WhizBang Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 (edited) Ah, so the 5 year goal is now to EASE graft. Not to eliminate it, or even make a dent in it, but only EASE. Whatever that means. What a joke. Perhaps the good PM could show us how serious he is by cleaning his own house first (the military), then, and only then, go after the public sector. I won't be holding my breath. To be fair to him, if he actually tried ending graft in certain organisations he would not be in his position more than an hour. Obviously he would not try to end corruption say in the police force as there would be some uncomfortable finger pointing and closets being opened.

Exactly, and that is why Thailand will NEVER change.
Psimbo Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 One wonders how 'unusually rich' the man himself is for a Public Servant (army service, not current position)? He who is without sin, and all that malarky.
silent Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 (edited) How many might be reminded of Richard Nixon with that picture. Edited December 10, 2016 by silent
elgordo38 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 (edited) The last time I watched that pose briefly was when I accidentally tuned into Jimmy Swaggart on TV hmm maybe it was Jim Baker. 5 years to ease corruption not in my lifetime or the lifetime of others alive today. Honestly, does anyone believe Thais want the end of corruption? Does anyone think Thais could function w/out it? Seriously... think a/b it. What would that bring e.g. following rules, being responsible for actions/non-actions, getting a job/position on merit/know how? Seriously how many could ride their little motorbikes or cars/ farm buggies on the road if corruption would end. This country NEEDS corruption b/c it can not and will not function w/out it - unfortunately.

Prayuth did show some initiative however as he employed the fast track method and he saved the country the time and expense of holding an election . Not a convincing argument though, is it ?
