Wife Giving Birth In The Uk

Featured Replies

Thai wife is currently 3 months pregnant, planning for birth in Thailand. But hoping she can come for visit to England soon on a basic tourist visa for a few months, before we return to Thailand for the birth. However if circumstances led to us wanting to have the baby born in the UK, Understand treatment could not be refused, its just would we be charged for the treatment or not?

Bearing in Mind:

1. I am British citizen, am registered with Local GP, work in england (N.I. etc..) etc...

2. We are legally married, with all required paperwork.

3. She would be here on Tourist Visa, not the Married couples visa.

4. Understand any emergency treatment for other problems would be free of charge.

Visitors are not allowed to enter or stay in the United Kingdom to receive free medical treatment from the National Health Service (NHS). You will be charged for any treatment you receive. Make sure you have enough medical insurance to cover your stay.

Hope that answers your question 4, you will be charged for emergency treatment. If you want the baby born in the UK, it could cost you about £30,000.
