Lots of debate recently. Uber - Grab Taxi - Grab Car  ... When these cars are involved in an accident, are the passengers covered ?  Asked regular taxi driver I use and he has commercial vehicle insurance covering himself, his vehicle (collision coverage in the West) and comprehensive (covers passengers in his and other vehicles involved, as well as pedestrians and property damage.  Those App based ones tho' - no clue. A guess - no. And let's keep the 'driver do a runner' comments elsewhere.

All legally registered cars for person transport are required to have comprehensive insurance for the passengers. That is checked every year.
So yellow plated taxis and green plated are ok, white plated likely not.
