If you have a 1 month multiple entry visa and you leave Vietnam and immediately cross back again, will immigration give you another 30 days to stay or does the original entry date countdown stick?

You should get 30 day entry, sane as every other country

Watch out for scams with the Vietnamese multiple-entry visa.  I don't know if they're still doing it; others who have gotten that visa more recently can chime in, but back in 1999 I got one and they "accidentally" (yeah, right) stamped it "used/finished" (only in Vietnamese) when I exited the first time...so of course I was forced to buy ANOTHER, single-entry visa to get back into the country.  What kills me is I can read Vietnamese, I just didn't look at the stamp carefully enough.  Though there's no guarantee they would have listened to me at that moment, had I called them on it.

 

This was a common scam they were running back then; as I said, not sure if they're still doing it nowadays.
