PATTAYA: -- Police suspect murder after a Pattaya bargirl was found hanging from a bag strap in a deserted house on Tuesday.

Nong Preu cops said that the woman, named as Warisa aged 30, was probably raped then strung up to conceal the crime and make it look like suicide.

The corpse was found without underwear.

Police and foundation medics were called to a house at the end of Soi Pornpraphanimitr yesterday evening at 5pm after a Burmese lady found the body hanging in a ramshackle house used as a charcoal making facility, reports Daily News.

The body was strung up with a pink bag strap. She was wearing a single piece black dress but had no bra or panties.

Daily News reported that she was pretty and white-skinned.

Police suggested she had been dead at least eight hours already. Next to the body was a pair of high heeled black shoes and a pink ladies bag - it contained a little more than 1,000 baht and credit cards for several banks. Thai ID in the bag indicated it belonged to Warisa, 30 (the surname was withheld). Time stamp cards for her place of work were recovered.

The body was sent for autopsy.

Jirawut Tanthasri of the Nong Preu police said that the evidence points to rape and murder. He said the scene was made to look as though the woman committed suicide.

Police have been checking CCTV in the area and have gone into Pattaya where Warisa worked at a well known bar to interview people to get a lead in the case.

They are also waiting for the results of the autopsy at this time.

The victim's place of work has not been revealed.

Do you ever edit content? some details are just not needed...

Not interested in truth and accuracy? Are you a disciple of some politician/s (where truth and credibility are stretched very thin)?

Yes, the truth sometimes is not palatable but it is the truth nonetheless. Is it not better to form an opinion (if you have or want an opinion) based on facts and not based on lack of facts?  Up to you - as the Thai girl said.

RIP Warisa. You did not deserve this.

I understand your point.  However, in OZ at least, it is not usually reported in detail as details are often used in solving a crime.  Sometimes it works to let a crim think a detail has been missed.  Details of suicide are never revealed and photographs are taboo - even for the press.  I notice that in Thailand everything is revealed - often with a good deal of conjecture and usually by pretty ordinary reporters and with very ordinary editors.  Details of crimes should be handled carefully. At least in this instance the photo was blurred out, but letting a photographer that close at the start of what might be a murder investigation is dubious.

Old for a bar girl but not for a massage girl....

Bar girl killer makes it sound like a serial killer which could be way off...as a detective I would work the who she knew first and treat it as an isolated case....probably an ex-BF or a wannabe lover...

CSI - CM

I guess you retired very early as a Detective, or were sacked. There are untold amounts of ladies working in bars that are thirty and much older. Thirty is very common from my experience, and much better than the younger ones

For once the reporting contains some facts

Although one other aspect revealed that there was no respect shown by the police to the dead woman.

RIP

Old for a bar girl!!!  30!!!!

You can't get out much, most of the bars have 'Bar Girls' that look as though they have came out of retirement to supplement the shortage of younger women working in the bars due to Internet dating sites, and having numbskulls overseas sending them their monthly subscriptions.

RIP.

While I do not like this story, I do nor find anyt  "inappropriate" details in it.

Obviously there is some one wth a sick mind about in Pattaya, and informing those  who might be in danger is important.

I'm sure that the local "bargirls" are passing as much info about this to each other as they can and they are not being "approptiate " about it.

Such things are a expected danger in the "bargirl" scene and many of them are quite aware of the possibility.

All details are needed , it's part of the story.

It's easy to close your eyes for things you don't want to see or know.

If it were a relative of mine, no matter how low their profession, I would hope anyone reporting would leave them some dignity at their end. In the world we live in now, there is already far too much information and details of lack of underwear are totally unnecessary. We aren't so immature that we don't have all too good an idea of what rape entails.
