Ideal location to make a recording studio in apartment

I've been doing video recording as a part time hobby and the most frustrating thing is the noise pollution in and around my home. With the kids running around to the airplanes taking off, I am only able to accomplish a couple quiet minutes of recording without any interruption.

I have been toying with the idea of renting a cheap studio flat ~30 - 40sqm to do my recording that is close enough to my home but away from the flight path. Can anyone recommend a building or location where I could, that is either unfurnished or partly furnished, and doesn't have a ton of noise pollution? Ideally, I'd like for it to be somewhere north of west of the old city. I would like to pay no more than 6,000THB per month.

That's the Holy grail for a lot of people,in Chiang Mai ,well the whole

of Thailand really, finding somewhere with a bit of peace and quiet,

I would say it's almost impossible,Thailand is a very noisy country,

I cannot think of anywhere, that you are going to find the quiet you

need, what about sleeping in the day and doing it at night ?

What sort of 'video' recording will you doing in an unfurnished room that gives rise to concern over 'noise pollution'?

The mind boggles!

Then there would be no need for 'noise' input.

Switch off the audio input.  Or any other 'input' for that matter!

My mind is getting even more boggled.

I have a green screen, but it's pretty big as it takes up roughly 4 metres and the camera is setup 4+ metres away, so if there were a bed that is sunk into the floor it'd be in the way.

Thanks Worgeordie, having lived in Asia for quite some time, I've come to terms with the fact that total quiet is an often unobtainable luxury. This is just a hobby and isn't worth changing my sleep cycle, I'm more interested in finding somewhere high up enough so the average motor isn't heard and far enough away from the flight path while still being with a 20 minute drive from my home.

I rented for 3yrs at Lanna 3 on Huay Kaew rd, behind Tsunami Japanese(Thai) restaurant. Although this was several years ago that I rented there but I remember paying 3,600 for a 38sqm unfurnished space. The thing I liked about it was that it is an older building and the walls are thick, I was on the 11th flr. and it was actually damn quiet.

Might be worth a look considering your needs ,the rent has most likely increased though but should still be well within your proposed budget.

Great! I'll check it out. Do you remember ever hearing airplanes?

No its not in the flight path, too close to Doi Suthep.

If no luck there, then roam around the soi's behind Lanna 3 et.. a lot of development in recent years, you should find something suitable for your needs.

If you look at a map you’ll see there are a surprisingly many dead end streets, so these roads see very little traffic, which would be the main source of noise in the city.

Personally where I live (in the city) the main source of “noise” are from birds, not traffic.

Though OP talks about West of the city, a lot of that is under the flight path, so I am not too optimistic about that area.

Also, if you want a “sound studio” you should probably find a place with double glazed windows, which I don’t think is available for 6,000 baht/month.

Here's some of the noises people have complained about on this forum,

traffic,airplanes,construction work,frogs,cicadas,cocks a crowing,neighbors,

malls,loud speaker vans,temple loudspeakers,village loudspeakers,dogs,

karaoke,Thailand is a very noisy place,I live in a cul-de-sac,and i have at

least 4 of those i have listed, but it does not bother me so much,as i have

tinnitus,so having other noises is a bit of relief.

If anyone lives in an area of Chiang Mai without some kind of noise pollution,

you are very lucky.
