Community Lampang: Police Lieutenant Shoots Himself Dead After Sudden Job Reassignment
Picture courtesy of Daily News. A senior police officer in Lampang province has taken his own life while still in uniform, just two days after being reassigned to a new role. The officer, a 54-year-old Police Sub-Lieutenant (Pol. Sub Lt.), was found dead behind the main station of Mueang Lampang Provincial Police Station early morning on 24 July. According to police reports, the officer had recently been moved from his usual patrol duty guarding jewellery shops in a local shopping centre to a rotating patrol officer position. The reassignment, made just two days prior to the incident, is believed to have caused the officer significant stress. The deceased was discovered lying on his back near a shelter behind the station, dressed in full uniform. A single gunshot wound to the right temple was found. His service firearm, suspected to have been used in the incident, was recovered at the scene. Medical personnel from Lampang Hospital pronounced him dead at the scene and his body was later transferred to the hospital’s forensic department for autopsy. At approximately 07:30, a cleaning staff member reported hearing a single gunshot but did not initially raise an alarm. The officer had began his shift at midnight and was expected to finish by 08:00. A fellow officer later discovered the body. The officer’s wife, who was staying in their fourth-floor police housing unit, was devastated upon hearing the news. She rushed to the scene in tears, telling reporters that her husband had shown no obvious signs of emotional distress and that there had been no domestic problems. “We spoke as usual. There were no arguments. I had no idea he was under so much pressure,” she said. Pol. Col. Komsan Saadluan, Deputy Commander of Lampang Provincial Police, visited the scene and offered condolences. He stated that the motive behind the suicide remains unclear, and investigators will need to interview family members, colleagues, and others close to the officer to understand the circumstances leading to the tragedy. Authorities are continuing the investigation. If you or anyone you know is in emotional distress, please contact the Samaritans of Thailand 24-hour hotline: 02 713 6791 (English), 02 713 6793 (Thai) or the Thai Mental Health Hotline at 1323 (Thai). Please also contact your friends or relatives at this time if you have feelings of loneliness, stress or depression. Seek out help. Adapted by Asean Now from Daily News 2025-07-25 -

Crime Thai Authorities Arrest Woman for Selling Meth from Grocery Shack in Pattaya
Picture courtesy of SiamChon. Local officials and police in Bang Lamung District have arrested a 55-year-old woman for selling methamphetamine from a small roadside grocery stall that served as a front for drug dealing to local youths and factory workers. The operation was carried out under the direction of Mr. Patcharapach Sritanyanon, District Chief of Bang Lamung, in coordination with the Bang Lamung Police Station. Acting on community intelligence and as part of the Ministry of Interior’s “No Drugs, No Dealers” initiative, officials launched a sting operation targeting drug activity in the Takhiantia area. Residents in Moo 5 had alerted authorities to suspicious activity at a zinc-roofed grocery shop that reportedly served as a hub for drug sales. Undercover officers monitored the premises and noted a constant stream of motorcycles arriving and leaving, a clear sign of illicit dealings. A controlled buy was arranged, during which an undercover agent successfully purchased four methamphetamine pills for 200 baht. Once the transaction was completed, police immediately moved in. The suspect, identified as Ms. Nookorn, a native of Si Sa Ket province, was apprehended while standing calmly in front of her shop. The marked banknotes used in the undercover purchase were found in the apron she was wearing. A further search of the premises revealed 290 methamphetamine tablets concealed in a plastic zip bag hidden behind a corrugated metal sheet in the shop. Ms. Nookorn confessed that the drugs belonged to her and that she had acquired them from a man known only as “Mr. M” in the Pong area, purchasing them at 30 baht per pill and reselling them for 50 baht each. Authorities have taken the suspect and the confiscated drugs to Bang Lamung Police Station for formal charges and legal proceedings. Officials reiterated their commitment to rooting out drug trafficking in local communities and warned that further raids would continue under the zero-tolerance policy. Accident Road Crash Claims Life of Young Woman in Ayutthaya
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 21-year-old woman has died in a crash, after the motorcycle she was riding pillion on was struck and she was thrown beneath a passing trailer lorry. The incident occurred on Highway 3056 in Uthai district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Police Lieutenant Pallop Intharachet, of Uthai Police Station, responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and an articulated lorry. Emergency responders from the Ayutthaya Ruamjai Rescue Unit also attended the scene. The deceased has been identified as Ms Supriya, a resident of Nong Saeng district in Saraburi province. She sustained fatal head injuries and severe trauma to her body. Her partner, Mr Krissadaphong also 21 and from the same district, suffered facial and bodily injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. According to reports, the couple had been travelling from Saraburi to visit the woman’s mother and friends in Pathum Thani. Mr Krissadaphong, who was driving the black Honda Wave motorcycle, told police that another motorcycle veered left as if to discard rubbish, causing a collision. He was unable to brake in time, resulting in their bike toppling over. Ms Supriya was thrown into the path of a trailer lorry and crushed beneath its rear wheels. The other motorcyclist fled the scene and remains unidentified. The driver of the trailer lorry, 59-year-old Mr Tawee, from Nonthaburi, said he had been travelling in the left lane en route to deliver goods in Chonburi when the collision occurred. “I didn’t see the motorcycle until I felt something under the rear wheels,” he stated. “I tried to swerve but couldn’t avoid it in time. I’m deeply saddened by what’s happened.” An eyewitness, 62-year-old Mr Sombat, who was driving a staff shuttle van behind the motorcyclists, confirmed the collision between the two bikes. He said the victim’s motorcycle fell just as the lorry passed by, leading to the fatal impact. He also noted that his own vehicle narrowly avoided hitting the wreckage, but was struck by a following car. Police have documented the scene, interviewed witnesses, and taken both the lorry driver and the injured boyfriend for further questioning. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and whether charges will be filed. Adapted by Asean Now from Workpoint 2025-07-25
