Arrested on a warrant issued in Si Khiw was Thawee Toyaem a dealer in second hand goods. The daughter was 15 at the time when Thawee started chatting with her on Facebook. The parents disagreed with the liaison because of the age difference and because the suspect used to run a casino in Thorburi, reports Thairath. So they fled and set up home together. They have a child together. Thawee was arrested after he took the girl, now 17, to work at a department store in the Rama 2 area of western Bangkok yesterday. Previous attempts to locate the couple had failed so the mother turned to the Crime Suppression Division for help and they managed to track them down to the Bang Born area. However for the sake of decorum the scene should be a little more somber in my opinion. So it does seem Chip that they don't take things very seriously. If they had, it wouldn't have been against the law (that is my understanding anyway). That is why it isn't taken seriously by police. The problem here is that although the age difference and her age makes the whole deal unacceptable the outcome will cause even more strife. She will be left with a child at 17 and the husband will be banged up. They have been together for more than two years and she is working at a department store, not in a bar. The girl now no longer has a husband to look after her, and the child no longer has a father. Good work from the moral(istic) majority. I agree 100%..... just from this short gossip reportage it could be inferred they are living in a consensual and functional relationship. As you wrote stating contrasts, people are so fast to destroying something they perceive is wrong. Like you said, Good grilling, ensure he will support the young child and girlfriend, even go so far with random checks on the family for a period of time. (Social Services) type deal. Thats it!!!!! Many civilized Western and South American countries (Italy, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and plenty of other small countries as well as some Asian countries such as China) have an age of consent of 14. It is 15 with restrictions, otherwise 18. And prostitution is not legal in the kingdom at any age.
