How many folk in that bus in total..if there were teachers as well as the FORTY SIX students..??!!

I drove behind an open backside schoolbus yesterday... the kids were sitting in the doorway. They were playfighting and yelling to me in Th-english. No rules at all for them it seems. Also i didn't see any teacher, only boys and they could easy fall out when the bus pulled up.

so much for emergency exit breakable glass if you have to use an axe, no clue at all

RIP young Thai girl murdered by the corrupt police and do nothing government.

I believe it means HS diploma level and of a western standard.  Could be mistaken.

+1

Well said man

They don't care if they kill there children.

Shame on the murderous  Drivers / Riders of Thailand.

Another school bus incident!!

WHEN are those in authority going to make some REAL changes to the law(s) and how the laws are upheld.

All the while those in authority ignore these problems, their children and others are dying in more road carnage.

Best wishes to those involved in this 'accident'.

Normal, it's the weekly bus crash.

No. It's now a daily bus crash. I would like too know how many public mini buses and big buses have been in accidents since this new year started. I would guess it would average more than one a day.

They need to adopt the yellow school bus system of the US with roadworthy vehicles and trained drivers.

why conflicting reports?

it is sad to hear of unhappy ending to an outing which the students would have looked forward to.

You ought to study for the bar. On second thoughts maybe you are already there.

My daughter is not allowed to go in any of them schooltrips, unless we can drive her, not trust the driver, condition of the bus nor the teachers

And still nothing will be done to much money to be made at Road Blocks to catch Farang Bike riders for quick cash

Today the BBC World News had a piece about Thailand's incredible road accidents, and showed a bus on fire.

Great publicity.

While it is largely a semantics play, I personally won't use the word accident, as that to me implies that is taken all reasonable preventative measures -- and despite that, the event still occurred.

At this point I don't know exactly why this event happened - so I must understand that it MAY have been an "accident".

However, if it turns out such that there were failures - failure to maintain equipment, failure to comply with driving law, etc.. THEN, I think the more accurate word would be "crash"

In the end, you get the same result - true.. but I think there really should be some better understanding and acknowledgement about what really is an accident and what is not.

This is the time of the year when most schools send students to 'English Camps' which have little or no academic/learning value, [as all involved spend the whole time speaking Thai] and are at locations which are often, for some bizarre reason, many hundreds of kilometres from the school. These are usually profit making trips benefitting the teachers who have organised them. Cheap buses, basic lodging etc = bigger profits.

And so the carnage continues.  Investigation totally unnecessary, simply place cards in a hat with:

Driver fell asleep stoned or drunk. 100 points

Driver fell asleep.  80 points

Blown tyre 60 points

Blown driver 50 points

Dodgy bus/minivan  25 points

Blame someone else as driver had cash 10 points

Genuine accident 0 points.  Implausible.

BIB can take turns investigating, most points at the end of the week gets to keep the fines for the week.

Banana republic.  Like the guy with axe though, trying to get the driver ?

He's bang on correct regardless.

Practicing for Songkran as no one has seen any tightening by the authorities since the bad one in Chonburi.

Makes me sick. you RIP Miss.  Not your fault. too bad you had to put your life in the hands of idiots.

Best  I have seen recently was at Loeng Nok Tha secondary school'

Several large TRUCK BUSSES  all with racks on the roof and about 15 sitting right up top'.Before the vehicle moved they were  fighting to see who got UP TOP

What amazed me was the lone policeman on the zebra crossing who ignored what was going on  Obviously no law against he practice  Phew!!!???
