My Retirement extension comes up again late April,my UK Passport expires late October is it better to renew my passport before or after my extension of stay application?

You need to get your new passport before you apply for your extension. Immigration would only do your extension to October and you would have to apply for another extension then. 

They will add up to 9 months of the remaining validity on your old passport to the new one when it is issued.
