Thank you for the reply, it would not let me edit the post but I would also like to ask where it says: The total amount of money you have for this trip, I am paying for the flight and will be giving my mother in law so money when she arrives in the UK. So I would assume she would be 0 in this box?

I can't get into an online form without actually starting an application, and it's been nearly two years since I last completed one so cannot remember the actual questions in detail.

But the paper form asks

Quote

5.15  What money is available to you for your trip?

5.16  Who will pay for your travel to the UK?

5.17  Who will pay for your expenses such as accommodation and food?

5.18  If someone other than yourself is paying for all or any part of this visit, how much money will they give you?

Please also explain why they are paying for all or part of your visit.

5.19  What is the cost to you personally of your stay in the UK?

Does the online form not have a similar sequence of questions?

If not and it simply asks for "the total amount of money you have for this trip" then I would put the same answer as I would to Q 5.15 above, i.e. the total, and then explain in the additional information or sponsor's letter where this money is coming from and who is paying for what, as per the answers to Qs 5.16 to 5.9..

Thank you for the reply it comes under the heading of:  Income and Expenditure these are the questions I am talking about:

What is the cost to you personally of your trip in GBP(£)?   £0
The total amount of money you have for this trip                  £?
The cost of the aeroplane, boat or train tickets                     £517
The cost of your accommodation                                            £0
The cost of your living expenses                                              £0
Is someone other than you paying for all or a part of your trip? Yes
Please select what the relationship is of the person who is contributing to the payment for your trip? Daughter
How much will they be paying towards your trip (in GBP £)? £1750 (that includes the flight and around £308 per month)

I am just a bit unsure what figure to put into The total amount of money you have for this trip I would assume I should put £1,233 but I am unsure.

Zero is the answer.

That is what I have put on previous successful applications.

The 'sponsor' is paying and supporting financial evidence will confirm their ability to meet the financial commitment.

I would suggest that the relationship is 'son in law' rather than daughter.
