I will, but you first. Please explain how splashing wealth around in the open is a safe way for foreigners to live in Thailand, without becoming targets? Commonsense is hardly irrational. Your comment is irrational.

See, but some people actually live in places where other people, thai and foreign alike have money too.

Of course it certainly helps if that money is legitimate.

I know you find it difficult to accept your situation is not universal, but we dont all live the same way, some would ask what is the point of wealth if you cant enjoy it.

I get where you are coming from. My point is that someone is dead and very little is known about why. It's best to reserve judgement before jumping to conclusions.

Running a gambling website without a licence - providing it paid out its customers - is nothing when compared to knowingly taking someones cash for stocks that do not exist or have very little value (boiler rooms).

And I get where your coming from to. Yes its best not to jump to conclusions but your on a site riff with conclusions. Its part of our uniqueness in a way spiced with a bit of opinionation. (maybe no such word) but works for me as well as the following do. There are funsters on here, Trumpsters and some juntanistas and some just downright grumpies. I tend to drift among the categories but try and stay on the funster side. God this getting old is fun.

Well plenty of people have competitors bumped off.

If, as some posts seem to indicate, he's under indictment for illegal activities in another country, it seems probable that he'd be called to testify against associates and others in the same situation- and possibly much higher up the food chain.

Could be a simple case of eliminating loose ends.

Who?

The police or whoever was using their smartphone to record the playback on the cctv screen for release to the public, social media, etc..

Not sure why your are persisting with this but barking up the wrong tree springs to mind.

He was 39 and liked to push the envelope we were all that age once. He also wanted to leave his mark with procreation (4 children) He was unique in a way living the life we can all envy but the end result no. In his mind I guess what constituted a crime was rather blurred. Some people like to live on the edge and some fall over.

You can be envious; I'll pass.

I live where the British man in the OP was shot. Where do you live? It's always safer to be a rich Thai person than a rich foreigner - I don't care where you live.

If you want to splash your wealth around by driving exotic sports cars in Thailand - go ahead. Enjoy your wealth while you can.

Isnt that what i said? Who are you to decide how people dispose of their money?

Of course im responding to your last paragaph, your first one is a little too contradictory to acknowlege.

I personally think you should get over yourself, and accept that you are  not the arbiter of much of anything.

Congratulations on choosing a lovely place to settle by the way. - it must be a terrific lifestyle.

I don't believe I ever told people how they should spend their money. I did suggest that driving around in exotic sports cars could be asking for trouble.

If you disagree with that, then "I personally think you should get over yourself, and accept that you are not the arbiter of much of anything." Why would you think anything you contribute here is of any value to anyone? Isn't that all just Hoohaa?

Where do you live?... or is that going to remain a secret? As for Pattaya - I wouldn't live anywhere else in Thailand. No excuses, no pretense - I indicate my location under my profile like a badge of honour.

We should form a club. I am at that stage to. G/f sometimes help with the dress shorts with the net underpants built in. Body still feels great and the mind is well delving to much into world problems but hey I think I have another decade in the tank.

Now i know the completed the task, but they do strike me as being the Dumb and Dumber of the hit-men industry

its by no means sure, the police got their names from the bike rentals, more likely the victim has found out, somebody is  observing his activities, and has informed police, days before the killing.
the victim was not stupid, probably 2 bodyguards, constantly checking dozens of cctv around his houses.
because of his high connections ,and everybody knew about that, no thai hitman would have touched him, and he did not expect, a foreigner would do that. very likely a bodyguard was in the gym, maybe the lady, who was seen on cctv, who checked his car a few seconds before the killing.

So:

1) the victim informs the police he's being observed?

2) the victim had bodyguards?

3) bodyguards constantly monitoring his CCTV around his houses?

I haven't read that anywhere. Do you know this for a fact?

Its just more out of hand speculation it's getting funny now, my favourite one was when someone said the Thai lady who walked past his car in a busy street in the middle of the day time was in on the hit lol

There are no female bodyguards in Thailand, or SEA for that matter. Did they ever find out who the hit man was who shot that General? during the Red Shirt uprising in Bangkok a few years ago? That was indeed a professional hit as opposed to this one.

The bike plates were caught on CCTV and the abandoned bike was later found and traced back to the rental company where Turner used his ID. Turner and Caldeira travelled through the Trat border crossing together, so it would have been easy to identify Caldeira through Turner. They had also been spotted hanging around the sports club for a few days before the hit. This was covered by The Nation.

And anyway, they could not have been very good bodyguards if they stayed at his house while he was at the sports club.

I have watched the HIT video over and over again.

Tell me if I am wrong, but the hit mans face is clear but distanced and somewhat minimised in the video

If the image of the hit mans face is expanded on then they can easily know the face of the killer.

Or am I wrong and computer technology does not allow for the video image of the hit mans face to be expanded upon.

Or is that only in Hollywood movies...lol

Cheers

If there were indeed bodyguards, dont you think we may have seen them towards the end of the video, possibly checking on the body they are guarding.

I would have thought a body guard would travel in the same car as the body they are protecting, or at least escort the body to their car.

Otherwise, what is the point of a bodygaurd if they are not there before, during or after an attack on the body.

The victim didn't consider the need for any bodyguards since a Lt. Col. in the Div 3 (Nakhon Ratchasima) police had already posted bail for him. He also had an amulet.

My degree of faith in the RTP? I will stick with the local plod driving through the moobahn each night and signing the 'visitor book' at the end of the street.

Does this lT Col own a resort in pak Chong by any chance ? He's got his fingers in nearly every (worthwhile) night establishment in Pattaya . Now he's spread his wings to boiler room boys . I was wondering how a government worker could own a resort like that ....

Sorry to go off on a tangent but this is rubbish.  Kristie Kenny, the former US ambassador to Thailand had a female Thai police officer as her bodyguard when she exercised in Lumpini Park.  There are quite a few Thai female police officers who do bodyguard work on the side.

Depends on the resolution of the camera, and it would need to be a very high resolution one to capture a clear face at that distance.  Zooming in to this video would just show a pixelated and blurry face - it's already blurry at the scale shown in the video.

Walter the one he had for sale on Baht sold website was a white Cayenne Hybrid price 5.4 million baht. The one he was shot in was a Cayenne as well, but a different model, there are plenty of pics of it.

Ok, My mistake, if your pricing is correct that is a very expensive ride for patts.  Thanks a lot for clarifying this.
