Advice - Health checkup

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm 48 year male who have never done a medical checkup since childhood.

I understand nothing of all the medical terms offered in health check packages.

I have chest pains, High blood pressure (145/100), I'm worried about my drinking habits (Liver), Prostate, pancreas, brain or any other intestines cancer/diseases...

What should I look for in the packages? All advices are appreciated

Thanks

Where do you live in Thailand, the answer to that question may influence some of the recommendations.

Chonburi

Whatever health check you decide to buy it needs to be tailored to you as an individual, the best way to do that is to sit with a family doctor or GP and talk through some of the problems you're having and let him/her recommend what tests to have done. A chest xray is really useful, standard blood tests for liver panel, kidneys (renal panel), cholesterol, an A1C (diabetes), thyroid, a complete blood count and a PSA test (prostrate).

Additional tests to consider might be a cardiac stress test and an ultrasound of the abdomen but only the doctor can really advise.

Perhaps others can advise which hospital in Chonburi to check out for their respective health exams, they all have them and really the only thing that changes between them is the cost and the quality of the person interpreting the results - Bangkok Hospital might be a starting point for you.

Here's what Samitvej Hospital offers for health exams:

If you have chest pain, do not wait about to get a general check up, see a cardiologist NOW. These two at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital have gotten favorable reviews from other TV members:

Dr. Arnon Suwanpasak

Dr. Suthep Keeratijareonwong

A stress test will likely be indicated.

BPH is rather expensive, if cost is a concern then go to Queen Sirikit in Sattahip

Once the chest pains have been dealt with you can get an overall check up.

A standard check up package usually includes:

CBC (compete blood count)

ALT/AST (liver enzymes)

creatnine (measures kidney function)

triglycerides

LDL and HDL cholesterol

fasting glucose

And as you are concerned about prostate, PSA

Since you have a drinking issue, ultrasound of lower abdomen may also be wise

Phyathai Sri Racha has good value packages.
