Hi

can any one help I have an engineer that has been refused a visa subclass 600 and I need to know if

we can get him in to Australia on another visa he will from time to time have to install and commission

a piece of our equipment. I must also mention that he was convicted on a drugs offense 21 years ago

and did serve time for the offence.

any help would be appreciated.

What was the reason for refusal?

A subclass 600 is a visitor visa. If he is going for work it is the wrong visa.

The visa he needs to apply for is the 400 temporary work (short stay)

In regards to character concerns a refusal on these grounds are normally very very hard to fight. The question is how long did he serve and what has his behaviour been like since then - a good lawyer or agent may (it would be really risky could go either way) be able to get the department to reconsider but it would be a hard battle.

The reason for refusal is the key to solving this problem. It would be on the email you got from the department
