WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A top aide to U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday defended his colleague, Kellyanne Conway, after she was widely criticized for her public endorsement of the fashion line of Trump's daughter, Ivanka.

 

Speaking on the ABC's "This Week" program, White House aide Stephen Miller said Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway was making a "light-hearted, flippant" comment when she urged Americans to buy Ivanka Trump's products.

 

Conway's comments prompted criticism from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers, as well as some legal experts who said she may have violated ethics rules that prohibit using a public office to endorse products or advance personal business gains.

 

In comments to the Associated Press, Republican Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House of Representatives Oversight committee, said Conway's statement was "clearly over the line, unacceptable."

Like many 'advisors' of Trump she needs to learn not to use her mouth when speaking  to the media  without first thinking about what she is saying.

I am not criticizing her in particular, that is just a good rule   that for all  politicians world wide to use.

Nordstrom's sales of Ivanka Trump's line of clothing and shoes fell by nearly one-third in the past fiscal year, with sharp drops in sales in the weeks before her father Donald Trump was elected president, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

Nordstrom announced this week it had decided to stop carrying Ivanka Trump's apparel, prompting President Trump to take to Twitter to defend her. "My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom," he said on Wednesday.

Typically the lowest level of federal  administrative warning for unbecoming or inappropriate conduct, verbal counseling is documented by a letter placed in the person's personnel file for up to one year to confirm such counseling, thereafter it is removed if the incident is not repeated. "Light-hearted and flippant" is not an excuse and the Trump regime recognized that.

I am trying to keep an open mind about this guy. I was hoping he might have some constructive proposals for the economy. But, he is so bogged down with his immigration extremism, and refuses to acknowledge that extreme vetting has been in place since 9/11. All of the people who got visas and green cards in the past decade were extremely vetted. So, there was no risk in letting them in. He could have established the program, allowed all existing visa and green card holders in, but denied any new applicants, and few would have complained.

 

The fascinating thing about the megalomaniac, is that he seems to enjoy digging his own holes. He started a war with the media. He created this extreme immigration program, etc. He seems to love a battle. Hope he does not start a major war. Lord Bannon seems to be itching for a war with Iran. I think they would find Iran to be a far worse foe than Iraq, as they have very deep pockets, and it could very well turn into a 40 year war, costing the treasury tens of trillions of dollars, and possibly even bankrupting the United States, leading to major terror attacks on US soil, and destabilizing the planet. My guess is that it would lead to his impeachment. But, I see that coming anyway. I seriously doubt, especially after this ridiculous Nordstrom scandal, that this man will last four years. He will either be impeached, resign, or have an aneurysm. Even my most conservative friends are complaining about that dumb move. Totally lacking in grace, would be putting it mildly. 

 

As far as the immigration debate goes at least half of the judges that are ruling against Trump, were appointed by Republicans. He is continuing with his Orwellian Alternative facts campaign. Anytime he does not like what happens, or a decision that is made, or a news account, or anything else, it instantly becomes alternative facts. He simply cannot fathom the possibility that it is happening for a good or logical reason. It is an attack against him personally, if it is not in lock step with his wishes. He truly has the mindset of an adolescent, who has always gotten his way. He is ill equipped for his present position, and is not a good give and take sort. Not sure how he is going to be able to negotiate with our allies, much less our enemies, with this attitude of entitlement and his inability to ever express any humility.

A light-hearted, flippant comment that's against the law.  And she should be punished for it.  She knew what she was doing and knew it was illegal.  Everybody in government knows this.  Especially those at this level.  No excuses.  And is just one more in a long line of abuses the current administration is getting away with.

               If it makes Trump family members ever-richer, then why not tout their products?  It's all about enrichment, isn't it? 

 

              When foreign diplomats and heads of state stay at Trump properties (note; T just doubled the annual membership fee at his Florida club), perhaps a Trump employee will roll a silver tray up to the room's door - displaying Trump Steaks, Trump Books, Trump Water, Trump Magazine, Trump Wine, Ivanka's handbags and bangles, Ivanka's husband's real estate deals, and Trump Vodka.   The foreign dignitary will know (though it's unspoken) he's required to buy a bevy of Trump products in order to stay in Trump's (and America's) good graces.   To not buy lots of Trump items would be an affront to the First Family.

She worked for Cruz before jumping (that sinking) ship and joining with Trump.  She bad-mouthed Trump, while working for Cruz.  If another Republican came along and offered her $10 more per day, she would jump ship again, and praise the richer guy and bad-mouth Trump again.  She thinks like an attorney:  always defending her client, regardless of morals or truth.  Guiliani could be her twin brother, in that sense.
