this is the main reasons why Thailand continues to slide backwards and that we should never allow any police/army folks to run the country

Most running this country are former police/army folk.  Even before the coup.

There is always an aura around "the police being always right and telling the truth" in every country. If you can't trust the police...........

But be serious. Are you really trying to suggest the 43 British police forces are comparable to the BiB ?

1 of the 43 (South Yorkshire) most definitely, I think. They were not just involved in covering up Hillsborough but also child sexual exploitation in Rotherham. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotherham_child_sexual_exploitation_scandal

Unf**kingbelievable.  Seriously, you just could not make this up if you tried.   Monty Python would be so proud.

The funny thing is, that it is the actions of the police themselves that leads to the worst tarnishing of their (so-called) reputation.  This story is likely to make the rounds internationally and will have tons and tons of scorn heaped upon the police as a result, never mind the heaps of scorn it is likely to generate locally.  And they deserve every last bit of it too.

Those involved in this decision should be fired immediately.  No inactive posts, no pensions or other benefits, just unemployment.  They have absolutely no clue what their job is or should be.

Reform anyone?   Prayut?...   Prayut?...   Prayut?       (deafening silence)

Come on give them a break, they have to spend so much time getting those paratrooper badges they all wear, in case they have to chute in to traffic accident.

You mean how to slide down a wire and roll over when they land?

Inept cretins that are beneath contempt....

The real issue is the junta, the other scumbags in brown along with the elites and the hierarchy who sponsor the whole sorry lot of them are all hogging the trough and they have complete and utter disregard for their own people and care not a jot for what the rest of the world think

This is one of the byproducts of a completely dismal education system where all that matters is how much money your family have managed to steal/accumulate over the years and the lack of any scruples or a moral compass are the norm, scary stuff really but completely predictable....

How can one defame something that is at the bottom  of the barrel for corruption, competence and impartiality?

Instead of shooting the messenger, whose message everyone knows to be accurate, the head honcho would be better employed actually dragging his subordinates, kicking and screaming, into the reality of proper work. Of course, the government could do worse than substantially increase salaries, in exchange for a complete clear out of the dregs of the force.

well you see - the big man as you are calling him is the only person with a hope in hell of actually making it happen, nobody else either a politician - political party or otherwise has any interest in the country, their only interest is enriching themselves, so yes - the big man is possibly the only answer and the person right now that can do it, will he ? well that still remains to be seen, maybe you have someone better in mind that you think can do the business - I certainly don't

You seem to be working on the assumption that a certain person cares for the country as a whole and is not enriching himself or his family. Its a charitable position to be sure , but rather lacking in evidence .

Would just exacerbate things. Going after foreigners who mock them would be like poking a hornet's nest.

There's no need to go after the foreigners. All they need to do is go after the forum. That's why mods are all over anything resembling defamation. They really have no choice.

you do understand what "well that remains to be seen" means

over the last 3 years or so there have been a few high profile powerful criminals presented to the courts others are in the process and if given time I have no doubt many more, do I think he has gone far enough .........no not even close as can be seen in this thread OP - one of the major reforms that should be happening is the RTP and the first step would be to make them accountable to the public and clearly define how they fit in the scheme of things and make it very clear they are public servants answerable to the public, you do that by creating a public police board that oversees and scrutinises everything they do and have far reaching powers to take action against those found not to be acting in the public interest as opposed to their own interest - which is fundamentally wrong on every level
