Is there any way to either reduce in size or shorten the time of the on-screen banner for station ID? The banner is huge and takes about 10 seconds before it disappears, but I can't find any way of either eliminating it altogether or reducing the time it appears.

A shot in the dark:  With a previous cable provider (can't recall which one) I had a similar problem where a large banner appeared onscreen for much to long of a time when changing channels.

 

There was a button on the remote for the cable box that would re-display that banner on demand.  In normal use, pressing the button would display the banner, and pressing it a second time would remove the banner. When changing channels, if I would press that button twice in rapid succession it would remove the banner.  A bit of a PITA workaround, but after a while, it was muscle memory:  press the channel up/down button then automatically hit the other button twice.

 

Absolutely no guarantee that will work for you, but maybe it would?
