PATTAYA: -- Pattaya police chief Apichai Kroppetch told his men to "round up the usual suspects" yesterday ahead of a press conference about the setting up of "Happy Zones".

His underlings went out in search of high "risk" groups who might steal from tourists and otherwise "damage the image of tourism in Pattaya", reported Siam News.

They soon came back to Pattaya police station with 50 ladyboys from Soi Bua Khao and Walking Street in South Pattaya.

The chief addressed the group explaining government policy regarding tourism and the Region 2 policing objectives about protecting tourists and their property.

This, said Apichai, was in preparation for the setting up of "Happy Zones" at the resort that would be "the most safe places for tourism".

The assembled gathering, in front of a sign that proclaims "The performance of important case (sic)", were left in little doubt that any illegal behavior would not be tolerated

While the ladyboys were at the station two tested positive after urine checks for drugs while one of the fifty was found to be a thief wanted for an earlier theft from a tourist.

"Round up the usual suspects" was an iconic line spoken by the chief of police in the 1942 film classic Casablanca.

Seems harse rounding up all ladyboys in sight. Maybe one day they will round up bald fat old tattood shirtless men

What a silly thing to say.

It is those types and all other tourists who are being robbed, molested and cheated by these LBs.

"... His underlings went out in search of high "risk" groups who might steal from tourists and otherwise "damage the image of tourism in Pattaya", " Explain again why they left the police station.... seems there is a "high risk group" already there posing as police.

"The Performance of Important Case"

:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Lots of this sort of semi-gibberish around.

My theory is that the nine year old kids of the boss come up with it and nobody dare say anything.

The old "loss of face" issue.

You would THINK that rounding up the same people over & over again, and even in the same places, with the usual slap on the wrist, would send a certain message about just how seriously the "usual suspects" take it...   Alas, no.  It's apparently nothing more than a minor inconvenience to them and I suspect will continue to be nothing more.  They say, "all things must change", but this is apparently an exception.

Let's just forget about the theft & violence from the LBs, and instead hassle the bar owners where there might just be a little - dare I say it - hanky panky (OMG) going on...   Oh, and the bridge players; mustn't forget them!

The policeman in Casablanca (Captain Renault) is of course a representative of Vichy France:

"Vichy sought an anti-modern counter-revolution. The traditionalist right in France, with strength in the aristocracy and among Catholics, had never accepted the republican traditions of the French Revolution. It demanded a return to traditional lines of culture and religion and embraced authoritarianism, while dismissing democracy."

How can such a round up be credible if not one policeman is included?

I like the idea of setting up "Happy Zones". It goes well with the  new "Happy Meals Pattaya Style" offered by Lady Boys . Buy One Get One free should go down well with the Punters.  Happy Zones, Happy Meals it all makes sense when you connect the dots.

Does anyone really think that telling a few ladyboys not to commit crime, is actually going to stop them when they see an opportunity?

Another uttely meaningless and stupid action, designed to make gullible potential tourists think everything is OK.
