Hi there!

I suffer a lot from fatigue and tiredness, and sadly a lot of what I'm prescribed in the UK is useless and does not work. The only thing that does work signficantly well is Modafinil, which I use off-label. I have read that it is very risky bringing modafinil into Thailand without a prescripition, but that Piracetam (similar qualities to modafinil obviously) is avaliable over the counter, but very few have it in stock?

Is this still true, and if so, does anyone know of any pharmacies that do?

Thanks in advance.

It is available here, at over the counter; there are several brand names as follows:

Mempil (locally made)

Embol

Nootropil (import)

You do not mention where in Thailand you are so can't suggest pharmacies to try,  but it will need to be a very large pharmacy.

You could try contacting the distributor and asking them for names fo pharmacies they have supplied to in your area.

Distributor for Mempil:    General Drugs House  Tel: (+66) 2530 0590

I'll be flying into Bangkok and will probably look for it there.

Do you think I'm better with the bigger stores (boots, etc), or the more local-smaller ones?

You will definitely not find it in a Boots, Watsons or the like. You need to go to a large local pharmacy.

Hmm okay, I hope its not too difficult to find!

PIRACETAM or Nootropil or thai name Noocetam (low price) is available in Khon Kaen at Pharmakon on Na Mueang Rd.

Tel 043-237277  5 minutes from Centreal Plaza.  They are on the google map.   Other big pharma name brands too.

Just bought Nootropil 1200 at Southeast Pharmacy.  Sukumvit soi 15.  Box of 20 tabs was 500 baht.

How much cheaper are the Thai generics than the original one?

There must be cheaper placebo's for this than piracetam

Nootropics are not just  a placebo as far as I can

Piracetam is the first gen (weakest) , developed in 1975 but in the mid 90's they made pramiracetam and noopept and several others that are around 1000x times stronger (mg for mg)

They require a much smaller dosage obviously but they are not legally available in Thailand yet

Not sure if it's legal to import them from USA or Canada  or not because they are not banned as far as I can tell but I'm unsure about importing drugs
