Would be nice if commercial vehicle drivers including those minivan idiots read this, and prepared their vehicles properly - tyres in good condition, brakes in fine working condition, steering properly connected to the front wheels, and for once - drive according to prevailing conditions. I know, it's a hopeless dream...

And brain in gear.

They never get here in our micro climate.   Frequently the rain stops 2 to 6 km away.  We get noise and flashes and later give a big sigh and go turn the irrigation on again. Promises promises.  We have had so  many storm warnings this year already.

Yes.  When it really rains here, a decent downpour processes a colossal amount of water through our property.  We are situated below several properties of orchards & cassava plantations on a gentle slope and it all comes down through us, sometimes 1/3 to 1/2 a meter deep in places as it flows across us.  I have installed all sorts of fast bypass mechanisms to stop it building up and taking out stop banks on the high side of our land and to control it so it goes past (not through) all the buildings.   In full flow it is still quite a sight.   One good (or bad) 3/4 to 2 hour REAL down pour will fill our local 1-rai (40m-square) pond from nearly empty to over flowing after it all passes through our land and under the road to the pond.   So far we have lots of water in the pond this year but as it now has Amphur oversight and new possible restrictions on it this year we also had to put in a 2m wide x 27m deep dug well and three 3m x 2m concrete storage tanks and connect up a new power connection with three new power poles, two pumps and a lot of blue pipe to connect into our existing irrigation system.    A very expensive year for water security contingency plans, but well worth it for security of water supply.  Without secure water we would be totally stuffed!!!!!  Putting in a new pond on our land would cost a fortune,  take out up to 100 trees, and we would steal all the water heading to the existing shared family/Amphur pond.
