PHUKET:-- A woman driving southbound on Thepkrasattri Rd toward Phuket Town escaped unharmed earlier today (April 5) as her Range Rover SUV caught fire, with the flames gutting the car completely, leaving nothing but a burnt-out shell.

Traffic backed up on the busy road, which serves as the main corridor linking Phuket International Airport with the rest of the island, just after 12:40pm as police, rescue workers and firefighters arrived to battle the blaze.

The car was pulled over into the emergency lane just south of the intersection to turn-off to go to Nai Thon and Nai Yang beaches (Route 4031).

The firefighters from Thepkrasattri Municipality managed to douse the blaze after about 15 minutes, but not before the flames had gutted the entire vehicle.

Capt Chatree Chuwichian of the Thalang Police said the driver, Weeraya Thitiworana, 34, escaped unharmed.

What does the price have to do with it? If it costed 2.1 million, everything would have turned out very differently.

I always read the link that the news article originates from. I find that reading them fills in the blanks and such as the last sentence in The Phuket News . " The Range Rover SUV was insured for 1.7million baht".

Price is dependent on the model, engine size, trim and fittings and after fitted accessories.

This info I posted comes from the genuine Thailand Land Rover/ Range Rover dealer site.

So yes, you could get the plain jane for 4,399.00Baht.

However it must have been a cheap charlie or grey import if it was only insured for 1.7 million Baht. 555.

P.S. This driver has just joined the ranks for the Ford drivers whose cars burst into flames, the new Mercedes in South Africa also bursts into flames. We won't even discuss Tesla cars.

PSS. You can even buy Lamborghini here using other peoples drug money right?

Have a safe weekend.

some people don't know that it is the insurance, not the owner, that sets the insured value according to the age of the car. i sold last year one of my cars for 5.5 million Baht after owning it for three years. no insurance in Thailand exists that insures a valuable vintage car!
