BANGKOK: -- Four city traffic policemen were transferred to do their jobs at the operations centre of the Traffic Police Division after they were accused of manhandling a man in Klong Toey area as seen in video clip widely shared in the social media.

The four policemen later admitted that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding as they thought the man, Mr Pamoke Rodtiang, was a foreigner and drunk.

Mr Pamoke, however, told the media that he merely took pictures of the four policemen while performing their duty with his smart phone. He said he did nothing wrong, but was roughly handled and handcuffed by the four policemen.

Mr Pamoke was on Tuesday invited to meet with Pol Maj-Gen Jirasan Kaewsaeng-aek, commander of the Traffic Police Division.

After a two-hour meeting in closed door, Pol Maj-Gen Jirasan emerged to tell the media in the presence of Pamoke that he had decided to transfer the four traffic policemen to the operations centre of the Traffic Police Division.

Neither of which is a crime.

Well not according to the law anyway.
