ICE vs EV, the debate thread
Yeap....for those folks who have wall chargers and not doing daily trips exceeding the range of their EV (which is probably going to be at least 300Km...and a lot more for many EVs and newer EV coming out) there is no need to use a DC Fast Charger. Since I got my BYD Atto EV almost one year ago I've only needed to use a DC Fast Charger on a western Bangkok to Ban Chang/Pattaya round trip where I added 25% charge over 20 minutes at Pattaya to ensure I had enough battery charge to get back to Bangkok. This was my first long trip with my EV. And as it turns out if I had "not" add that extra 25% charge I would have still made it back to my western Bangkok home with about 5% charge left. But I have used DC Fast Chargers to just ensure the 6 charging network/app I registered with really works...or like I doing right now since 1 Aug in getting "free electrons" at BYD ReverSharger DC chargers thru 2 Jan 2025....haven't used my wall charger since early August. But come 3 Jan 2025 when the current free electrons promotion ends I will once again only be using my home wall charger except when I need to make a long trip that exceeds my Atto's range (a real world range of around 375-400Km at above 90KmH highway speeds...but around 420-440Km at lower speeds). -

If you think giving an answer to a question to which the answer requires a number (i.e. How many?) and not giving an answer with a number in it is answering said question then your deluded. A: Well I see a future where everyone will have apples. Q: How will you deal with inflation? A: Well I was brought up in a middle class .................................................. Kamala Harris Defends Policy Stance in Heated Fox News Interview
A lot of it to me sounded like straight out Trump talking points - like he was doing it on behalf of Trump. Maybe you are used to that on Fox News. Normally they give the interviewee a chance to spruik some positives. Ask yourself if he would've been anything like that with Trump. The approach to the immigration questions for example - yes it is an important and key issue and there are some terrible individual consequences - but the discussion was emotive noting that 'a large number of men' had committed heinous crimes - no context or comparison to crime in general - asking for an apology three times regarding the tragic cases of the 3 ladies killed - I am not suggesting it is not important but that type of question is loaded with emotion and repeating it again after she made her statement was not fair and balanced in my opinion. He would repeat questions after she gave an answer that I consider was a reasonable response - played emotive Trump campaign ads focusing on obscure gender issues that are big Trump talking points - talking about how Trump is seen as better for this and that as part of the question e.g. saying how well Trump is going against her and attempts at gotcha questions - clearly more combative than he would be against Trump - played the wrong quote that lessened what Trump said - which Kamala picked him up on - and which the host admitted later but was too late - finishing the discussion of the Iran issue with a criticism with no ability for her to respond. If he treated Trump the same then no worries. -

EV Charging Stations (CS)
I agree with you, it didn’t go far enough by explaining how large the effect was. I tend to believe what the Tesla Guru says and that higher state of charge is detrimental. It’s what I’ve also read on battery university. EE does explain the chemistry behind this and it make sense. Generally, I find EE quite good, he spent almost 18 minutes explaining why a high charge state degrades the battery and only a few seconds saying there’s one study that contradicts this. It’s easy for me to keep my SoC low because most of my journeys are 10 to 30 km, I only go to Chiang Mai occasionally and only once further than that in the last five years. Until I watch that video, I used to keep SoC between 80 and 100%, I don’t do that anymore. -
