A good and and fair motorbike shop?

Featured Replies

As per the title, can anyone recommend a motorbike repair shop in Chiang Mai? I'm currently staying with my in-laws in a very small village (roughly 200 ppl) and there's only one "shop" here, with one guy that does sub-par repair work. I'm coming to Chiang Mai for a few months and would like to get my bike repaired there, so and help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bike info: Mid-2000's Suzuki Hayate 125

Edit: I understand that Chiang Mai is a large city and I'm not sure exactly where I'll be staying yet. I'm renting a truck to bring my motorbike there and will stay at a hotel/guesthouse until I find suitable accommodations.

Thanks in advance.

Mid-2000's, is that around 2050?

There is one guy I know that is great about repairing accident damage but will not touch an engine problem.  Another guy great with engines but will not paint or repair accident damage.  Then there are thousands of guys that can fix a tire or change your oil.

What kind of repair are you looking for?????

A replacement wheel and maybe a tune-up. I'm sure the engine/drivetrain hasn't been looked at in years. The wheel I could get replaced locally but like I said the local guy is crap. He's lazy and instead of ordering the correct parts he'll just use what he has on hand. Ex: using the wrong size tube for the tire, thus resulting in a blowout.

2050 lol, that'd be one old bike by the Thai calendar! I think it's a 2005-2006 model.

I've heard a number of expats recommend the Piston Shop. I've never tried it myself, as it seems to be a place for larger bikes, but my friends all seem to be pretty happy with the service they've received.

I found the Honda Bike shop that is on the same road as McCormick hospital to be pretty good.....just not sure how they will handle a Suzuki bike.

You have to be joking. Chiang Mai is a small town.
