webfact Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 18-wheel truck collides with two sedans, injuring pupils By The Nation PATTAYA: -- An 18-wheel truck collided with two sedans resulting in four injuries, including three pupils on the way to school, in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district on Tuesday morning. Truck driver Wanchai Theerawat, 35, told police that the traffic light turned yellow as he was in the Ban Rong Poh intersection on his way to Rayong and he hit the brakes but lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the two sedans. It was raining at the time. The four injured people, Nuchjira Phurod, 30, and three children, were in a white Honda Jazz sedan while the driver of a Honda City sedan was not hurt. Ralf61 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 That old story, again and again. Watched this on TV news, with completely desperate relatives of the pupils involved. A miracle some people made it out of this pile of scrap alive. Best wishes for fast and complete recovery.
Cuchulainn Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 ................ It was raining at the time............. Fair enough. A good a defence as any.
champers Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Bald tyres, poor brakes, bad judgement? A heady combination.
richard_smith237 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 A truck speeding then.... Looking at the photo I'm astonished that no one was killed... the Honda Jazz was crushed in half. It really is about time there are some more serious consequences for those causing these incidents, for they are not accidents, they are something more severe... people in charge of a deadly vehicle driving so carelessly need to be made far more aware of the potential consequences of their actions.... Yes, thats a highly repetitive comment we see on ThaiVisa.com... nevertheless, one which requires constant repetition.
mikebell Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Agree with Richard above; constant repetition/complaining eventually ingrains itself into mindsets. I point out bad driving/poor service to my wife and now she does the same with her daughters; all three have become better drivers; all three have come to expect better service in hotels/restaurants.
Pattaya28 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 "Hit the brakes" mid intersection LOL. If anything, the accelerator would be applied. And where were the 2 sedans positioned ? That information might be helpful to understand what happened. Or is this just a normal event ?
Stargeezr Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 The car is a definite write off, just glad to see that no one was killed. The roads can be dangerous if one does not drive the speed, and we all know that speeding kills. Lucky this time. Geezer

Oink Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 From the picture, it looks like the truck was driving on the wrong side of the road. Central reservation to trucks left U turn Sign Arrow on road

cardinalblue Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Yellow my A** drivers here hit the gas when it turns red and within 30 feet on intersection.... thais never instintively break on yellow...not part of training... go to any intersection and count how many vehicles run a red light in any specified amount of time...pretty damn consistent
